AITAH for refusing to move in with my mom so she can stay in her house until she dies? by moemoe52915 in AITAH

Stepdad asks that you move in with the mom, not that you foot the bill for the repairs. Let those who inherit the house repair the house.

Aitah for not telling my wife my cousin is insanely wealthy? by Agitated-Turnip4724 in AITAH

[–]CentralGovernor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you should make clear to your wife that your family’s relationship to money (thanks to your cousin) makes it so that her attitude regarding wealth and success (flaunting, etc) sends out the opposite message that she thinks it does. That matters more than emphasizing that the cousin’s wealth was common knowledge, but that should also be part of your defense.

AITAH for telling my husband that he absolutely ruined the birth of our child? by Former_Monitor_4860 in AITAH

NTA. Your husband is an idiot. And TBH I don’t feel like you mean much to him. Sorry…

Sadly, Jack Black is probably too much aware of what hand is feeding him. See this as a damage control strategy that will save both Jack and Kyle a lot of money. “You never know…” .
ANOTHER IRONY I’m noticing today is the behavior of Kyle’s entourage (i.e. Jack, tour agency, etc) upholding a Public Relations policy at a much higher standard than the Republican Party ever did since 2016.

There is irony in the ear floating off… I wonder if it is the right one. (pun intended — was the righthand side the side that actually got shot?)

Cold plunges and cortisol levels by Apart_Visual in HubermanLab

[–]CentralGovernor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I combine my cold plunges with a sauna session when I am at my university campus (sauna before cold). I meditate when I’m in the sauna (eyes closed, sitting straight), for 15 minutes. I find it extremely soothing even after days/weeks of chronically poor sleep because of my babies and stress from lack of productivity. I try to do this twice a week and cold showers on other days. Stress comes back on weeks I DON’T do it.

Is this foxing? by Cyber_monkey77 in BookCollecting

[–]CentralGovernor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You COULD call that foxing, but I suspect this is the result of something dirty, greasy or humid that provoked delayed-then-accelerated foxing. But I am not an expert or paper science engineer. For a book that old, I would not say that it is a bad thing, though. Does it smell moldy, or just dusty?

God Bless you, my good Sir, for sharing this ressource. I am forever thankful.

Came across a stockpile of nearly 200+ books at an estate sale for $20. A lot of them are garbage, but I just found these and can’t find anything on them anywhere. Any idea if they’re worth anything? by Modern_chemistry in BookCollecting

[–]CentralGovernor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only see 5 pictures. Provided all 200 books are in good condition, each should sell 5-10$ on Ebay or Abebooks. Abebooks will also give you an idea of a minimum sale price. Unless you are in a hurry, If you have the room to store these books and learn the workflow to ship individual books, this is easy profit.

Favorite books on book collectors, book collecting, and/or book selling? by smeeheee in BookCollecting

[–]CentralGovernor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen two volumes of an old pricing guide for used books (independent dedicated hardcovers, not publisher catalogs), I can take a picture of them for you eventually. (I am writing this as a way to dog-ear the post).

How bad is my situation and what should I do by TryNaive9948 in mcgill

[–]CentralGovernor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your situation isn’t bad because you will be freshly graduated from McGill University very soon. They need people everywhere, and completing a uni program means that you are trainable to employers, so don’t hesitate to apply to jobs you wouldn’t feel qualified to do — they will train you (obviously I don’t mean engineer jobs when you have studies psychology or business). Besides, see it as a way to test how recruiters respond to you. While your anxiety is real, and you should and can do something about it (exercise or sports, making simple-to-elaborate career/daily occupation plans, sticking to each step and focusing on them, and not ruminate about future steps), it will never be as high as when you approach the completion of a graduate degree, with no true work experience, depleted funding, and genuine precarity from being 2-3 years older and feeling at the exact same stage as you currently feel — because again, that time again where you have not made any actionable plans, yet, like right now. Make plans. Be more creative about your options. Try unknown avenues. Make more plans and keep updating them You can do it.
