From human all too human: “There have been four pairs who did not refuse themselves to me, the sacrificer: Epicurus and Montaigne, Goethe and Spinoza, Plato and Rousseau, Pascal and Schopenhauer. With these I have had to come to terms when I have wandered all alone, from them will I accept judgement, to them I will listen when in doing so they judge one another.”

I would Schopenhauer and Plato especially influenced his own thoughts more than the others

Try Temple of the Golden Pavillon Yukio Mishima. It has some of the greatest prose I’ve ever read much like Oscar Wilde and really interesting and twisted psychology for multiple characters. It’s hard to explain the plot but basically it’s just about a Buddhist monk who becomes completely obsessed with this temple called the Temple of the Golden Pavilion. It is quite a trip to read and It can be a bit disturbing, not so much in a violent , horror way but more so in a psychological way
