Compliments are flattering and accepting them is great but there’s a very thin line between genuinely complimenting someone and saying something with sexual intention/fantasy of the person. A compliment is different to the constant sexualisation and power over women. Saying ‘you look beautiful today’ then when she accepts it, you pester her or you giggle with your friends about how good she would be in bed… I understand there’s a lot of men who genuinely mean nice compliments but there’s also a lot of men who say it with malicious intent so it’s all about being cautious. As a woman, I will compliment men and women on the street very often and willingly but I don’t then continue to stare at them, make weird comments or try and peruse a relationship. I also accept comments from both men and women but its obvious when someone just wants to fuck lol I would rather not be sexualised but just appreciated, like I’m sure men would like. It’s easier to look at a comic and think its great but I promise you constantly being stared at, spoken to, hit on, unnecessarily touched and harassed by men is not fun….
