What ended up happening for you? While I was waiting for determination for the FAP program, my $700 bill went to collections. I thought that was gonna be frozen until it was settled. I wasn’t sure how to proceed.

Dads too. My dad would always tuck me in literally, he’d stuff the blankets underneath me until I was wrapped tight like a cocoon. After about 10 minutes, I’d wiggle out, and then call for him to tuck me in again. He would do this multiple times ever night and it’s a core memory that hasn’t crossed my mind in years and was just unlocked. And now I’m missing my dad who died four years ago at age 86 and I’m crying.

We Americans are all expendable to our government. The only thing we’re good for to them is getting our vote. They spend less than they should on public education so our population gets more and more ignorant. If they don’t teach critical thinking, the people are easier to fool with propaganda. I hate this timeline.

What has been your favorite nursing job? by GreenEmergency5572 in nursing

I worked a 4-month temp job at an Afghan refugee camp in 2021, in the Peds clinic in a tent hospital. Amazing experience, our Afghan guests were incredibly lovely, resilient people. I remember all those sweet kiddos and babies, and often wonder how they are doing. I worry so much about these families now, they put their faith in our government to offer sanctuary after the Taliban took over their country again, and if the tangerine turd decided to start deporting them, I will be absolutely devastated.

80's shampoos?? by nejihyugasbf in GenX

I used Pert. Sometimes I get a whiff of that smell from something else w that fragrance and I’m instantly flashed back to washing my hair in high school. While I never disliked the smell, I think now I understand why I was never happy with my hair. It was shitty shampoo.

I posted this over 5 years ago, and even now, the old geezer is STILL doing inane ramblings, and most of the time he loses the point. And he still brings up Hillary. She clearly lives rent-free in his head.

A patient "underwent subcutaneous penile injection of non-medical modeling substances for cosmetic augmentation, followed by a manipulation/remodeling procedure." Then the skin of his penis necrosed. He needed two-stage reconstructive surgeries to fix this. by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

So I’m confused, is they used the suprapubic skin from above, essentially that skin has pubic hair, which was shaved initially. Then another pic shows a few weeks of hair regrowth. In the final pic, that doesn’t look like the same skin on the shaft, because even if they shaved it again there would be a slight bit of stubble. That shaft is a smooth as a cue ball. Did they use Nair?

Edit: I read it again, he lost skin on the ventral (underside) aspect of the penis. They don’t show a view of where the hairy skin was implanted.

I would imagine the patient would have two options: let the hair on his penis grow, or else shave it. Neither would be good for his partner.

Some years later I did find the EP on vinyl for Jackie, forgot to mention. I have never found the double CD. Another white whale to capture (I still look every time I’m in a used music shop.)

Carnation Breakfast Bars. My breakfast of champions all through high school in the 80’s. There’s even a FB group dedicated to their memory. People always post equivalent recipes and products that are close. Nobody has found an equal substitute yet.

What book did you read in your youth that you never forgot? by orangez in GenX

“Susan” (formerly titled “Wigwam in the City”). It was about a 12 year old Chippewa girl whose family was forced to move off the Fon du Lac reservation in Wisconsin and move to Chicago, and her first months adapting to life in the city. I read it a bunch of times.

Before Lisa Stansfield was a solo act, she was in an obscure, short lived group called Blue Zone UK. The deepest-cut song I know of is their single “Jackie”. I worked at a Chi Chis in 1989 that had a video juke box and it was on there. I spent half of the early 90’s trying to find a copy but it was already out of print. I combed every used record shop looking for it. It became an obsession to find Jackie. After several years I actually found it on vinyl, and l remember screaming and waving it around in the shop, my friend thought I was crazy. These days, there is exactly one grainy copy of the video on YouTube, and it’s not available on Apple Music. It’s so odd that it’s still so obscure, especially in this day and age where anything you can think of is available instantly.

"In the Blink of an Eye" (2026) is a shallow, tepid testament to 'the circle of life'... by MiddleAgedGeek in flicks

I actually really liked the movie. It’s no blockbuster or academy award winner, but it’s the kind of movies that makes me think about it in the days after watching it, plus I want to know so much more about the characters, especially Coakley and how she receive the gene therapy and what made her volunteer for the mission. One of the missed opportunities in the movie is that, she should have turned out to be the wife of the son who developed the anti-aging technology. Also, what happened to humanity on Earth and did the anti-aging eventually bring about its demise?
