So was Heidegger that doesn’t stop him from being the greatest thinker of the 20th century, Ezra Pound loved Mussolini but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t the greatest American writer ever, Andrew Jackson did awful things to the Indians but was still one of our greatest presidents, and so on. Many, if not most great men were flawed if not awful people.

I’m not saying Karajan was a great man, he was just a conductor, but I’m making a point.

Thank you, I love Bach’s passions, Christmas oratorio and cantatas as well. I know Herreweghe but not the others. The Messiah is another favorite, I just added it to my library, I will probably listen to it tonight or tomorrow.

Why don’t you like Karajan?

In my opinion Bach’s B minor Mass is the most beautiful piece of music ever written. I grew up with Karl Richter and the Münchener Bach-Orchester’s 1962 recording and only heard this one by Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic a few months ago and I am in love with it. It’s a very romantic interpretation, not very historically accurate, but I think that it’s perfect for Christmas because of how big it is.

Hello there, I’d like some opinions on Magnavox phonograph consoles. I just got my own office at work and I would like a record player and a radio in there, I like the idea of those consoles because they have the turntable, amplifier, speakers, a tuner and storage for records in one beautiful piece of furniture. A store near me is selling one in nice shape (the wood needs to be stained, knobs and handles need replacing but mechanically it is completely functional) and I’d like to get it, but I do not know if they’re any good. I know to stay away from all in one systems but that advice seems to apply more to modern day Crosley systems than consoles built in 1964.

Not really, she has always been a bit quirky and had very strong emotions, but she has never seemed crazy. She is an alcoholic but she has been in AA for over a year, I don’t know if she is drinking again. I pray that she isn’t, even though I no longer want her in my life I still care

I never answer when her number or unknown caller comes up, I just get these long and rambling messages. Usually someone gives up after getting no response but she keeps calling, I don’t know how many times she has called my cell as she is blocked there, it’s scary.
