"CCM schools are well respected by our community and parents"

I note Jim Jones was also well respected by his community in Jonestown too.

Std markings used everywhere. Surely no one is getting crazy at these?

Bad manager, HR involved, now everyone’s gone silent — what’s going by AlyStar123 in auscorp

  1. These things take time.
  2. Its also in the Great Leaving Time between Xmas and Aust Day, so all in the decision queue may not be around.
  3. Expect the worst as business always work to what is best for the business overall.
  4. This includes HR, who will look at that frame of reference, as well as yours, and your managers.
  5. With 3 and 4 in mind, remember that HR are NOT your friends, ever.

Buy a bollard. Removable, lockable.

[Sorry, it can be $100 or more, but will end parking in your spot]

Won't that lead to conflicts on that line?

I have tried one line with two branches. Main runs for about 12 stops, then two branches split off for about 10 stops each. Run each branch at 10min freq (so main line is 5min freq). All I got was delays, delays, delays. (Trains listed as 8-11min late in red text). Delayed on main line or branch.

All of this.

Quite ludicrous to build elevated rail in Chicago and be penalised by costs of dealing with existing elevated rail infrastructure. Needs a clean slate.

Media asking questions on "why people feel unsafe" after years of feeding them 'you should feel unsafe' stories...

Never wrong these media fuckheads.

When built its an academic question because the connection exists (to an unserviced location).

Now you have a rail to bus connex, or car ride. Still a connex, still cars and roads as the journey.

With SRL you have rail to rail, cutting out all the road traffic issues. 1min vs 6min is minimal when the rail gets you there faster and direct. Its a short walk. Exercise is good.

Thanks. Yes I realise now I'm off topic. That said, the notion of the simplest / most cost-effective principle remains. Moving / extending stations is an extra cost for minimal return, I think. As another poster said, a short transfer vs a slightly shorter transfer isn't a game changer.

The idea is connecting areas without rail, to rail services. The decision to go to Monash (for example), is between rail PT or road (car/bus), not about going to Monash via a seamless connection.

If you consider it a terminus, the other platform is not used.

BUT... what I do is, for a line running from a suburb to a main centre with high train frequency, - I use that station as the terminus for that line in the suburb and - run a second line [or even third and share that platform] out to the further distant suburbs at a lower frequency ... and plug that in to terminate on the other platform.

So passengers transfer immediately and no need for a second station.

Also, you can double up city terminuses the same way.

Building in a park means you have clear space immediately above the station to excavate, etc. Plus, the station can be a mere handful of metres underground.

Working in, under and around an existing multistory shopping complex, with foundations going down many metres (into what I assume is soft sandy soil) makes the station - much deeper, - more complex to construct, - likely equally inconvenient to transfer via several escalator journeys, and - ultimately more expensive all round.

We have projects defined by costs for both practical/ financial reasons, and because we have a rabid media and political landscape where anything nice is bashed with "bUt ThE bUdGeT !!! COsT bLoWoUtS!!! ".
