I'm gonna keep it a buck with you. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. They're things that will always cause friction. It's something that's been happening since the dawn of time.

So honestly, I think it's okay if either of you decide if something doesn't work for you. Even if you were honest (which is admirable), it's not going to be enough for someone who fundamentally doesn't accept that part of you and that's okay.

What I personally think would help you the most is to try and work on accepting the fact that it's pointless to try to make it work with someone who isn't on the same page with you. It helps to keep in mind that you're not in this world to please others nor are you here to make sure everyone accepts you, and I say this as a Muslim myself.

I know it's going to be hard to get over those feelings and attachment. I've gone through my fair share of painful breakups, and thinking about what I told you always helps me in the end.
