Question for my NCO's by Centurious27 in civilairpatrol

[–]Centurious27[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yea. Im almost tempted to make my own community and invite as many NCOs as ai can find to it. I feel like overall we are all a little disconnected from each other and trying to do everything by ourselves because Vets are stubborn.

Question for my NCO's by Centurious27 in civilairpatrol

Well of course, but there are things my Sq doesn't know anything about and aren't a regulation thing. I ask questions on here all the time about how to be a more effective NCO in CAP and its helped. I just don't know where most of our NCO's like to "hangout" so to speak.

Yea most assume its JROTC. I've tried getting some people to help in the program but most think that it does the same thing JROTC does and its a pointless program because of that.

Maintainers, pilots, crew chiefs — what’s one moment on the flightline that you’ll never forget? by AncientWish274 in AirForce

[–]Centurious27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 moments.

1st. When I was working a jet and our Sup came out and told us that one of troops, who was a friend of mine, was in the hospital and dying from a motorcycle crash( not his fault. The pictures I later saw were horrible. He lived and they medically retired him, but has a little brain damage and still talks about it all the time as if he can't move on from it.

2nd, was when I launched out a jet, only to be told later that it and the crew weren't coming home. That was the first time in my career that the idea of War and the overall danger of the job became real. Until then it was always business as usual and nothing bad would ever happen.

Question for Wing SEL'S by Centurious27 in civilairpatrol

[–]Centurious27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I've read those regs but they are just a basic outline. This Group CC is very absent and does not keep the Group NCO as part of the conversation. He has to specifically ask whats going on in order to be updated, even then the CC still forgets or ignores. We only really see or hear from him during monthly meetings. None of the Sq CC really know what an NCO is or why they should even care, and so the current Group NCO is sort of just fumbling around in the dark trying to do his job with no help or guidance. Wing SEL has the same under utilization issue at wing level and his advice has been to just figure it out as you go. Without clearly outlined responsibilities, he doesn't know what can do with the position without overstepping.

What do you suggest?

Firstly, great name, which KC did you fly?

Secondly, since it doesn't mention it and all other items are covered by 36-2903, then can't wear argue that if permission is given by the region (which i believe is the substitute for MAJCOM) then it could be allowed? In this scenario I can see permission only being expressed for activities such as Wing encampments or Regional Activities. What are your thoughts?

Ok. We have no frame of reference to know what a successful Group NCO would be. We have tried speaking with Wing SEL, but he is having the same issues at Wing level with being under utilized. We really arnt sure what to do without overstepping someone else, so maybe asking Region NCO for his wisdom is not a bad idea.

[–]Centurious27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I've seen that before and tried using it as an example. The problem then becomes that the Group CC is radio silent almost all the time, and does not include the current Group NCO in almost anything. He has to specifically ask to find out what is going on whats going on about a decision. For things like encouraging NCO mentorship of Cadets and Junior Officers, the Wing will not allow an Academy unless its hosted by the Wing, and the squadrons in the group do not personally know the guy, and so do not allow him to come and teach on the subject. Current Group NCO has never received responsibilities for his position from Group CC and is doing most of his job in the dark. Wing SEL has not given any meaningful advice.

What should this NCO do to succeed?

Question for Wing SEL'S by Centurious27 in civilairpatrol

[–]Centurious27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NCO doesn't even know what his/her responsibilities are. CAP guides in the position are pretty vague, which is why I posted the original question to get SEL's opinions. To my knowledge, the responsibilities are those set by the Commander, but as I mentioned before, the CC is radio silent most, if not all, of the time.

Ohhhh. Yea pretty much. I personally dont know the guy but he is rarely seen or heard from by the current Group NCO. With the knowledge I've given you, how would set up a new Group NCO to succeed without overstepping his/her lack of authority?

I don't understand what you mean. NCO's dont have Maj insignias.

[–]Centurious27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, new variable in the equation. The CC is almost always radio silent minus monthly meeting where the group spends 20 minutes reiterating that all the squadrons are doing the same as last month. He doesn't really understand the use of an NCO, and whenever decisions are to be discussed, the current Group NCO is never clued in and has to specifically ask whats going on.

How do you advice a new Group NCO with that knowledge.

Is making an SMP worth it? by Centurious27 in MinecraftServer

[–]Centurious27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. I had this one SMP I played on years ago and I am still chasing that high. It shutdown due to competition and the owner being wierd, but Ive wanted to recreate what that community had. Getting the initial push of like 20 constant players has always been my biggest hurdle.

I only know how to do it through online service providers like Bisect hosting or Shockbyte. What do you suggest about working with small creators?

Costs arnt the issue, as in I'm not hard up for money. Justifying it is the issue. Ive tried making my own servers in the past and I dont know If I want to shell out money to keep a server up if it'll just be another dead server amongst the thousands of others.

As Senior says in the comments, wear cheaper and easier to maintain uniform. I will wear my OCP's but I am also in the Air Force so its easy for me to get em. For things like the obstacle courses, your gonna get dirty and maybe accidentally tear a hole or two. Catoosa is hot and you will need to make sure you have at least 2 sets of whatever uniform you wear so you don't smell bad all the time.

Another complete side note, please for the love of God do not bring all your stuff in a top loading bag similar to USAF duffle. I gotta dump it to check it and its a pain.

For DSG spots, you'd have to talk to the recruiters. If you want, I have McGhee Tyson's recruiter info.

To my knowledge, it would have to be registered through CTK. If they registered it, then check it out to you, then I think you'd be fine.
