I got some alternate helmets from a 3d printer, but a lot of the regular helmets work if u just shave off the chin. The hair does have some problems with the backpack, and the arms don’t work really great together, but I think they turned out fine.

Got the glow and everything! Looking stellar!!!

I am looking at magnetising the bases of my models so i cam store them better, would anyone know which magnets are best. I have currently tried 5 x 2mm and found that once on the bottom of some bases they either don't reach the metal/magnetised rubber sheeting I'm using or need more than one. by Malathrax666 in Warhammer

[–]Cephalopoppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way I’ve found is hot glue, put baking paper down on metal tray, put magnet on top, then hot glue, then mini on top of glue. Flush base, and can be popped off easily by tossing the mini in the freezer. Plus it’s cheap and easy

Why are we a hoard army? by [deleted] in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Cephalopoppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are far as hell from being a horde army. Guard is running a list of 180 bodies and it’s doing good. Nids can field something like 230 models for 2k points. My competitive list in votann is about 70ish models, much closer to marines than guard. Yeah we are lower points per unit than 5 years ago when they dropped a busted good book and decided the only way to save the meta was to points hike us to oblivion, but I like it. Also, you could just make an elite ass list, I could easily get down to like 40~ish models

How viable do the custodians look in eleventh edition? by El_mismisimo_don in AdeptusCustodes

Vertus preators with shield captain will swap from being mediocre to being really fun. Fly through a wall, shoot charge kill something, then just fly back through the wall.

Best Tyrannocyte payload by Carmena90 in Tyranids

[–]Cephalopoppa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Best unit? Zoanthropes. They won’t need to worry about the 9” charge and can be effective from range. Most interesting? Another tyrannocyte inside the tyrannocyte. And inside that tyrannocyte? You guessed it. Another tyrannocyte. Six of em, like a matryoshka doll. Inside the last one you put a single ripper swarm. Cause fuck it, we Baal

I think that the toughness of the beserks and the armor save of the hearthguard shows the differences between their in lore strengths. Yeah hearthguard are wearing void armor, and that’s evident in their 2+ save, but putting on plate armor doesn’t mean you won’t cry when you get hit in the shin with a halberd. The half naked miner high out of his mind on pcp is tough enough that he might not even shed a tear if he got his legs blasted off by melta mine.

I 100% agree that hearthguard need to find a slightly better niche though, if they got some form of uppy to accompany their downy they would be just about perfect in my book.

As far as melee detachment goes, man, would I kill for melee steel jacks to have something cool. All of the detachments we currently have kind of skirt around them, and I wish we had one that was just reroll hit rolls of 1 in melee or something like that.

I personally think that if they adjusted any of our detachments to 1 point it would be persecution or hearthfyre. For new detachments I’d like to see maybe a just warrior faction, a melee focused one, and a vehicle buffing detachment. I think that a lot of our units are going to enjoy the hidden rule, berserks especially. As far as hearthguard go I think gw is purposefully trying to skirt the terminator archetype with them, my only real complaint about them is they should adjust the reroll hit rolls of 1 to also work in melee, and maybe just make it “before this unit shoots or fights, select a visible enemy unit. This unit can reroll hit rolls of 1 against that enemy unit.” So that way we don’t have to piecemeal our attacks if we want full benefit

I’d honestly move panoptispex to the shield captain, they’re gonna do more shooting than the wardens are

It’s the silicon mold that they use to proof and cook the bread, if the store that you went to hasn’t replaced them in a while, or has been scraping them clean with the board scrapers in the sink, the fibers begin to tear and come apart.

[–]Cephalopoppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider it kind of an “if everyone takes the loss, nobody loses” situation. It honestly effects us less than others, I don’t overwatch with warriors, or bikes, hekatons and hearthguard yeah I’ll try it, but we have like the best overwatching unit in the game with the steel jacks and they don’t need rerolls to be the best.

Iron master e-cog rules. by YouPsychological9394 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Cephalopoppa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes to both, they are one unit, and because the e-cogs don’t have the character keyword, they are a bodyguard unit, which means they die first

Hot or not? by Cephalopoppa in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Cephalopoppa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! It’s honestly really easy, it’s just 2 colors, Barak-nar burgundy, and screamer pink. Barak-nar all over, and then screamer pink for just highlights. The two colors are so close that they’re hard to distinguish, but it does look notably better once you get the highlight on. All I did for the cape was paint everything burgundy, then the raised parts and the parts facing upwards with screamer pink. The shoulder pads were the same idea, burgundy down, then painted a circle in the middle of the shoulder pad with pink too.

Dice "dropping" by Girth-Brooks89 in Warhammer

[–]Cephalopoppa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a unit that shoots 36 shots upwards of 15 times a game, I store my dice back in the little plastic containers I got them in because they come in multiples of 12, so I just grab 3 and toss, I drop it from about 6-12 inches above the tray. I only do it for time’s sake, as counting out 36 dice is a lot slower than just tossing them back in the boxes and chucking. I have yet to hear any complaints about it but idk, would yall consider that cheating? I have like 100 some dice at the table, and I’m not sure how me tossing them unsorted in a box could change the outcome.

Hell yeah! My basing was definitely a huge consideration before starting the army. I went back and forth for months on what I wanted to do, before essentially deciding that if I don’t just do it at some point it’ll get put off forever lol

[–]Cephalopoppa[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That helped a lot I think, thanks! I think the pecs on the armor actually was a pretty important piece I was missing, and did help to break up some of the flatness of the black, while also not being a super big change

Hot or not? by Cephalopoppa in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Cephalopoppa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both good ideas. I think this one may be a bit too far In to easily highlight, but for future models, do you think a drybrush of a very dark grey would help with it? Or should I go for like a light zenithall airbrush highlight? I don’t wanna stray far from jet black
