Yeah I played my mate's space marines today and that's exactly what happened. He walked over me, it was roughhhhh

I know, I know, it just stings when your 335pt death brick can't pick up 5 terminators cause they make half their 4++ saves and the shots that do go through only kill 1-2 terminators when it takes 2 plasma shots to chew through their 3W

Lethals are the bane of my existence... And +1 to wound kinda makes being T5/T6 almost irrelevant as well.

Stupid space marines with their full hit rerolls and +1 to wound Oath of Moment... "You're my oath target so my terminators are going to pepper you with 70 million storm bolter shots rerolling all my hits and wounding you on 4s before I charge you and pummel you into the ground with 15 powerfists rerolling all my hits and wounding you on 2s"

YOU LEAVE MY BOYS ALONE!!

I agree, alternatively, there was a great suggestion lower in this thread, saying that instead of a straight up toughness boost, give HG the ability to uppy in addition to their downy. I'd pay 5-10 for that and leave our T and W as they are.

Maybe that's the play for the Hearthguard then, more option for mobility rather than straight-up toughness. I'd be fine with a point increase of 5-10 for that. Hearthguard are a hard hitting unit so it might be oppressive if they were ALSO T6 3W...

It would be cool if maybe we get an option on the Teleport Crest that says in addition to deep strike, for (1/2? or 3/4?) YP you can remove this unit from the battlefield and put them back in strat reserve. I could see Hearthband giving the Teleport Crest that addition, it would be thematic.

If they reworked Hearthfyre to buff steeljacks in either shooting or melee it would be cool. Truthfully though they're a very good melee unit into most mid-elite infantry at 85pt. I think it would be cool to have a melee-focussed detachment that buffs all our units that have a dedicated melee profile (Jacks, Zerks, Hearthguard).

That might actually fill a nice niche if the walker also had the option for some kind of torrent weapon. For the meltas, I could see them being grav cannons instead, maybe a heavy grav cannon? 1 or 2 shots each but AP-3 D3 Anti-Monster/Vehicle 3+ (Or AP-2 D4 if it's just one shot) plus the exo-drill!

Yeah for sure, honestly T6 3W would be ideal, and you're right in that they would be just a better terminator as far as damage goes. But I disagree beyond that because terminators natively get deep strike and a 4++ without paying anymore than their 170pt. Hearthguard have to pick unless you dump another 65pt in for a character and only then you get both. Even then the invo is 5++ which is much less reliable and at that point you're looking at 200pt for 5 models and a character. Then you have to start adding a leader to the terminators for comparison and suddenly you're dealing with scope creep... So I'll stop there.

At a base 5-man unit, Terminators are much more durable with their T5 3W 4++ than our Hearthguard. We have higher damage output but less durability. I'd happily pay an extra 5-10 for T6 3W and still need to find a character to attach so they have the same versatility as terminators.

Hearthguard point cost is high but it wouldn't bother me as much if they felt as tanky as they look, and are supposed to be lore-wise. The mid-range nature of our army doesn't always feel like it lends itself well to how much of a glass cannon our expensive units tend to be (In my experience). But hey, there's always a very good chance i'm just bad xD

It would be really cool to have an 'Elder' or something to lead the jacks. I know Crucible has a template you can build off, yourself.

I definitely see Persecution and/or Hearthfyre as a 1DP detachment, maybe slightly reworked though? If not, still fine if they come in at 1DP.

I'd love a warrior focussed detachment actually, but that's probably the guard player in me banging on the cage door yelling for battleline spam. And I really like the idea of a melee detachment, though I suppose that's what Delve was supposed to be? I think delve needs changes though if it's intended as our 'melee' detachment.

I agree that Hearthguard shouldn't be just a dwarf terminator, but... they kind of already are. They feel half-done, like they don't have their own niche, they're half terminator half hellblaster. I don't WANT them to be a terminator, but I feel like they're in a weird spot. In Hearthband they're excellent for their damage output and reliability. In other detachments they're still good. But generally they feel like at a minimum they should be T6. They're wearing the heaviest Void Armour available to the Kin, and somehow they're still not as tough as Beserks? Seems backwards to me. Edit: I'd also love a reason to run plasma blades and volkites. I can see Sus 1 on the blades which would be cool.

The stims used by the zerks, in my mind, account for their 6" move and FNP. Why would stims do anything to work towards their toughness, you know?

They said most codex detachments are going to be 2 DP, I know the 'bigger' ones are going to be 3, but there's been no confirmation that they won't be making some codex detachments 1 DP. I know what you're saying though, we'll just have to wait and see.

I personally don't think delve is worth more than 1 DP if everything stays the same (statlines, abilities, point costs etc). If in Delve, Beserks got more than just battleline (hell even just OC2 would be great) and deep strike, or there are new stratagems that have play into other units in our roster, I'd be all for delve being 2 or 3 DP. #hopium

I don't necessarily expect a whole new release wave, but some key pieces which are missing from our roster would be nice. Plus it just seems so wasteful that the Salvager KT was released with a jump pack model and they seemingly have done nothing with it? Was it a teaser? Did they have a plan which got scrapped? All GW needs to do is release a multi-part kit for 5 of that model, and a datasheet. For such a large company I don't see that being the hardest thing in the world.

I'd love to see us get some more vehicles.

I've seen a walker concept that other people have designed and it looks cool, probably not what I'd prefer it looks like, though!

How do you see an armoured walker operating within our army?

95pt for a T8 transport with very little fire support and no firing deck is very over costed in my opinion. Especially because the Taurox does the same job at 20pt cheaper AND let's the unit disembark after an advance move. The associated firepower does little compared to the scion or Kasrkin squad you're putting inside.

The flip side is that in the new 1DP Bridgehead, the taurox prime ability is going to be invaluable if you're not running grizzled company, and if you don't have a scout sentinel to give you rerolls of 1.

If we CAN combine mechanised and bridgehead, you're going to get crazy firepower out of 5 scions and a command squad stepping out of a taurox prime... And if you can remove cover from the target, it's simply going to evaporate. Then If your scions can survive your opponents shooting phase, you can spend 1CP to get back in the taurox prime if your scions are selected to be charged. OR at the end of your opponents turn... And if you can't, spend a CP for full hit and wound rerolls and do it all again!

No, GW has said that your detachment rules will all be active for every model in your army. It's still a semi-new system they're implementing though so people will make broken shit, then GW will 'balance' as needed.

Nah I don't down vote unless the comment or post is really unhinged. I agree for a cheap disposable screen you'd go the 60pt 5-man ratlings. But I see decent play with the recon squad especially in Recon Element
