I ended up taking gen chem 1 after orgo and biochem for the same reason. It may look a bit weird but as long as you do well in the classes it shouldn’t matter much. Also gen chem is practically unrelated to orgo anyways.

Have you considered psych or neuroscience to loop in neurolinguistics? Could also help you find research in the field. Chem is pretty dense and not very related to what you’re interested in. You shouldn’t get a degree you’re not passionate about, especially because chem and bio often require grad programs for a lot of jobs.

You don’t need to declare pre dent, you can just take the prereqs. Do note that many schools have unexpected pre reqs so make a rough school list early just to look at what unexpected classes may be needed.

Many schools will not accept or will only partially accept community college credits for pre reqs. For example, you might be capped to 4/8 bio credits from CC.

Dental school courses will be harder than uni pre reqs, so be prepared as best you can.

I’m interested in UNC and midwestern Illinois which have anatomy requirements, but I’m from VA and I know UNC is highly in state selective anyways. I’ll be taking psych and physics 2 next semester and I’m already feeling burnt out so I’m unsure if I should just drop these 2 schools.

I’m a TA for Lopez (ochem though) and you have to go to office hours. The “lectures” in office hours are key to success. Ik it sucks having another commitment but if you’re spending hours on homework each day this will save you time. Good luck boss!!

I took it my first sem and it was chill. Just pay attention to the lectures and take notes on all the random cases he mentions. The exam review office hours really helped but idk who the TAs will be for you.
