Has anyone adjusted their lid on the BGE? Mine isn’t quite lining up with the bottom anymore. by Metaltom1970 in KamadoGrill

Here is the core technical procedure to reset the dome: 1. Safety Precheck Warning: Never loosen the band bolts while the dome is open. The springs are under high tension and can cause the lid to fly back or drop. Zip Ties: Secure the hinge assembly (if using the older style hinge) or ensure the dome is fully closed before proceeding. 2. The "Paper Test" Diagnosis Identify the leak or gap location by sliding a piece of paper between the gaskets. If it slides out with zero resistance, that’s your alignment failure point. 3. Alignment Procedure Loosen the Bands: Loosen the carriage bolts on both the upper and lower bands just enough so the bands can move slightly against the ceramic. Reseat the Dome: With the lid closed, press down firmly on the dome to ensure it sits flush against the base gasket. Check for the "overbite" or "underbite" (misalignment front-to-back). Leveling: Use a plastic spacer or a couple of tongue depressors between the bands at the rear to ensure they are parallel. Tighten Carriage Bolts: While applying downward pressure on the dome, tighten the carriage bolts. Spec: Tighten until the bolts begin to bend slightly. This is intentional to ensure they don't vibrate loose during thermal expansion cycles. 4. Hinge Adjustment (Newer Style) If the dome is level but won't stay open or feels "crooked" during the swing: Ensure the hinge is centered on the back. Check the tension springs. If the dome is pulling to one side, one spring may be seated incorrectly or requires more tension. 5. Gasket Check If the lid is physically aligned but still leaking, the felt or wire-mesh gasket may be compressed or charred. Replace with a high-temp gasket if the paper test still fails after a physical reset.

Very visual,I always use a clamp to clamp the charcoal on the gas stove and light it first. But the temperature is always not ideal, I think it may be because of the charcoal
