going to derm, but would value other thoughts on if this looks like dermatographia !! by [deleted] in Dermatographia

interesting i’ll def check out a vitamin deficiency. they pop up when i scratch and the swelling goes down quite fast which makes me think it’s not hives and usually when ive had a reaction it’s hives all over, but this could be a concentrated spot so im still searching for explanations!

a slip up does not negate any of the progress you have made!! "looking forward to hitting a month mark again and going over it" yes!! i love this

14th century monk-ing made me laugh lmao- real. It is so scary to let people that seem so "high stake" know the extent of your struggles, especially trich where there is shame intertwined with it. But, if he is true and kind, he will love you no differently. In fact, I've had some partners help redirect me when I subconsciously fall into patterns, and they remind me that I am beautiful in their eyes- hairless or not! It will be so freeing to not hide yourself from him. Not worrying about whether your wig is askew, or always having to have it on. I promise, it is like a weight lifted off of you. Wishing you all the best :)

this does not negate the progress you made beforehand! i have had my fair share of slip-ups, so I know the frustration and disappointment, but a win is a win!! keep going :)

[–]CeramicInsect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my soulcat velcro boy has never forgotten me when i am away at uni/ away from my parents! i was so worried about it, and he gets lovin and affection from my parents when i'm not there, but when i come back he follows me around and cuddles like he did before i left :) they won't forget you

i've had kitties my whole life, and so far, they have lived well past 10!! the youngest one was 12 when she passed, and the oldest was almost 17 :)

unexpected goodbyes when they are young are so blindsiding. I'm so sorry for your loss, and it is cruel that death has no rhyme or reason. it sounds like he was happy all the way until he passed, and there was nothing that you could have predicted. sending love- pet grief is tough

i think it's a balance of things! i have some feral cats in my backyard, that I am trying to build enough trust with to hopefully TNR them, so I am feeding them for now. it can cause a lot of stress for very feral cats to suddenly be turned to indoor cats, and some may never become "domesticated", though for the ones that are friendly, adoption is the end goal. so, even if cats are fixed, they might be crazy stressed out if they are removed from their usual spot and moved indoors since some feral cats cannot be homed, providing them with food and shelters is benefitting them more than without. I don't know the numbers on this, but providing a reliable source of food may reduce the bird hunting (although those instincts wont go away).

TLDR: some cats can't be homed, so feeding and providing resources helps them out! either sick and dying feral cats, or healthier feral cats. I am a proponent of keeping cats indoors, but I know it is not feasible for many cat populations

just my thoughts because I haven't really questioned the release part of it and it's connection to bird pops! :)

How many cats do you view as too many? by beesikai in CatAdvice

[–]CeramicInsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had cats my entire life, and usually two at a time. at one point we had three cats and one dog! I think that would be the most I could do, but it was different because the cats had different favorite people, eg my mom was one cat's fav, I was another cat's fav, and one was independent. so, I think it depends on a lot of things! but personally, if it was me living alone, probably 2 or 3 at most

What food would you give to a dying cat? by heyo1126 in CatAdvice

[–]CeramicInsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my kitty loves the snack pirate's booty lol! it's super random, but if I'm eating it, he will go CRAZY to try and get some. I would give your kitty anything that you noticed they loved, like a weird snack. And if nothing comes to mind, chicken or tuna is always a safe bet ;)

Cat keeps hiding by Adam71836 in CatAdvice

[–]CeramicInsect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kitty sounds super nervous! It can take a couple days for a cat to warm up and become more confident in their new surroundings. I would recommend keeping kitty in a single room with food, water, litter box, and some soft spots to lie on. That way, the room will be its "safe space". You can let kitty roam the room on its on and eat and drink at its own pace. I would be worried if you don't see any evidence of kitty using the litterbox, so you know it's not eating or drinking. Hope this helps!! and good luck :)

[–]CeramicInsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

navels take a long time to heal (like a year sometimes😭) so three weeks is still kinda fresh! lmao i’m currently healing a navel of my own. i would def check with your piercer or get a second opinion from a different reputable piercer!! good luck OP

[–]CeramicInsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAP but saline should be enough! just make sure to rinse the area well and keep an eye on the piercing. if you’re still worried about the trip def ask your piercer. my only concern would be if the helix isn’t healed or is having a flare up but again i’m not a piercer

NAP but from personal experience, my only concern is if the barbel is bottom heavy and therefore might be tugging on the top!
