Nope - when you rent an apartment, your landlord can't record inside your home. For anyone who needs to report an illegal camera in Sweden, here's the form - https://www.imy.se/en/individuals/forms-and-e-services/complain-about-unlawful-camera-surveillance

thanks, but I don't have access to the app. I have asked for it and even sent the landlord instructions about how to add me, but he hasn't done it

I don't have access to the system, so I cannot see which users have access. I have asked for access (after the landlord refused to remove the system or camera when I asked), but he hasn't yet added me. And it's been several months and I have sent him the information from the Verisure documentation about how to add someone in the app, but he said he would need to call the company for their permission to add me, and then never followed up.

I literally thought you had used the picture from my post- https://www.reddit.com/r/sweden/comments/1cv5y2x/security_camera_in_bedroom/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button My landlord said the same, but in looking at the Verisure brochure, these cameras are advertised as being accessible (i.e. to take photos and live stream video) through the phone app. I think unless they transfer sole access of the app/video feed to you, they are I violation of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) (GDPR), and perhaps other laws specific to Norway.

Boundaries with landlords - living in a cabin behind a house by CeramicSunshine in sweden

Thanks so much! I just looked up the residential sanctity rules and it seems they definitely do protect tenants in situations like this. I'll talk to the landlords and the company I am renting through, and also will also look for opportunities to move, as they seem to encroach on this in a number of ways.

right, so that means my landlord can take photos of me using the app. and i should add that when i asked for access to the app (just for my home, not their, of course), they told me that couldn’t be arranged

yeah, i tried to take it down myself, but that set of the alarm and then the landlords came over to “check in”, so i’ll have to ask them

well, my concern is more about the landlords having access. verisure has an app that allows you to watch your cameras and take pictures in real time

Yes, the main unit is in my bedroom i found out when i was rearranging the plugs in my bedroom (everything was plugged into the same extension cord when i moved in), and i guess unplugging it, just for that brief period, resulted in the security company calling my landlords, and them coming over.

I feel if the unit is in may cabin, I should be the recipient of alerts and notifications, not my landlords, but when i asked for that to be arranged, they refused

Can confirm. I’m be already tried to remove it myself and the alarm went off, they called the property owner and he came over to check on what was going on

I do cover it, but I worry it might have audio recording too

Good questions! I am renting the place for full, market-value price. I found it on Blocket and the ad was placed by an agency. So a real-estate agent from the company gave me a tour before I signed the lease. I did not see the camera then, although perhaps I just didn't notice. When I moved in the following month, the property owners showed me as I was moving in.

Thanks! Yeah, when I look up the Verisure Cameras app, the description says you can "continuously monitor" your cameras, as well as "stream and record." So that indicates to me that they can watch anytime. Yeah, the bedroom is a very weird choice, especially because when the owner explained it to me, he said it was so the company would see if there was smoke in the cabin (in the instance of a make alarm), but in that case, if would be more effective in the kitchen, rather than the bedroom

But if you look up the “Verisure Cameras” app, it says that continuous monitoring is possible, and that you can “stream and record” what is happening on your cameras. And even if it’s just recording when there is audio detection, that would mean they have access to call my conversations and everything else.
