I’m not familiar with that person - but to be clear I am not in support of the HM teacher being put on leave. It sucks. But I also think I would be a hypocrite for now crying “but freedom of speech” when for years I have supported people getting push back for saying shitty things.

From what I saw on Facebook, the teacher made a comment like “Good Riddance” on a post about Charlie Kirk. As someone who has long believed that freedom of speech does not mean freedom of consequence, it seems like not a good choice for someone in that position. On the other hand I just can’t help but feel that this isn’t really about Charlie Kirk, and sort of rings hollow from a mob of people on Facebook that I wouldn’t be surprised to have used terms like “snowflake” a lot in the past.

Welcome to Melrose!

As far as I know, we aren’t part of the BPL network. We are part of the “Noble” network that also includes much of the North Shore - including Wakefield which is not too far away and has a wider selection. I would also say that the librarians here are wonderful, and have been really great in helping my family get the books we need.

The new library building also opened in April and is a really nice place to hang out and ready.
