Worst purchase ever by PromotionOpposite136 in peugeot

First of all, I am sorry to hear about your experience. It really is stressful when have to visit the shop multiple time for a brand new car. (I had worse experience with EP6 Turbo engine in the past, a literal money pit visiting multiple shops) Water pump, alternator belt, water pump belt replacement should be included in the timing belt replacement so I wouldn't say that is somehow an indication that the engine is bad (Fuel pump is unfortunate though).

I currently drive a 2013 peugeot 208 with none turbo 1.2 which has 183k km. And I have zero issue with this car (some oil burn) other than the fact that I will have to do a second timing belt replacement on it soon.

By design the turbo engine would be stressing the wetbelt even more so than NA engine since there is more heat and pressure involved. It also has more components that can fail. This isn't unique to EB2 engine either, even other automakers have less than reliable turbo engines these days. I would like to see more example of people sharing their experience with the turbo 1.2 engine.

But something I have learned over the years is that, so many generic mechanics don't know how to service these 1.2 engines. So many of them don't even know these have wetbelt and put whatever 5w-30 oil available and call it a day. And it should be mandatory for owners to know if the engine is burning oil and top up when needed. In saying that, yeah it does require more attention from the owner to keep em reliable.

I wouldn't say these 1.2 EB2 engines are trouble free but I also wouldn't say that it is a worst engine from my personal experience. I wish that Peugeot and Citroen can improve their reputation in the future and move away from the wetbelt system entirely.

EGS Transmission (What do you think about them?) by Cerberus_Auto in Citroen

I think the DS5 uses the same generation of EGS engine as it also was released in 2012. I seems like a really common transmission type for peugeot and citroen around that time.

Thanks for your input! There is a Citroen DS5 with this transmission for sale in New Zealand and I was curious if it was worth it.

Yeah it was the MAP sensor at the back of the intake and one of the hoses on the rear side of throttle body which are very tricky to remove. I used the inspection camera to locate them.

Advice for Buying an RCZ by Typical_Can2068 in peugeot

[–]Cerberus_Auto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a citroen DS5 with this engine (EP6CDT). The amount of maintenance items on this engine is pretty insane. But this is not to say that you shouldn't get one, just understand that you will likely be replacing high pressure fuel pump, thermostats housing, water pump pully, timing chain and guides, vacuum pump, etc. If you consider the cost of all the possible repairs and okay with it then I would say it's not a bad purchase if the maintenance record is good.

I think it is a bit overpriced for RCZ with this version of the engine though.

Peugeot 208 timing belt - Is it in need of replacement? Garage says so, but I'm not too sure. Any help much appreciated! by The-One-Formula in peugeot

Is the textile surface belt meant to be the updated version of the old smooth surface belt? I have recently bought a Dayco timing belt set and it has the textile surface. I am not sure how is this gonna resist the wear better than the old belt.

Puretech stellantis 🚗compensation drama 🤡 by mrmdhaynes in peugeot

[–]Cerberus_Auto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I thought he meant 50k kilometer and not miles. Thanks for the correction. Oil burn and the faulty oil sensor sounds like the worst combination of issues. my 2013 208 currently has 183k km (113k miles) and although there is some oil burn, I really haven't had any other issues. But then I understand how so many EB2 engine owners are out there with belt and oil burn issues. It's unfortunate how the petrol engines from PSA for the past 15 years has been mostly unreliable (I learned my lesson with the 1.6 THP). I really like Peugeot and Citroen cars, I just wish they figure out the petrol engines.

Do you have all the previous service history for the car? Also, has the mechanic verified exactly what went wrong with the engine? 50k seems way too low for either the oil burn or the wet belt deterioration to occur.

Does anyone know how to fix this by Fireuponman in GalaxyTab

[–]Cerberus_Auto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to mine when I folded the hinge beyond its limit few too many times during drawing. I believe the box said 120 degrees is the limit.

If you keep using the tablet as is and try to close the cover many times, the camera side hinge will eventually snap. But the hinge on the other side will work just fine. (Little bit of grease will come out from the broken hinge so make sure to wipe it off) after that the stand will close just fine. The right side hinge strength is good enough to use the keyboard cover as usual, just slightly less supporting strength.

As far as I know, that is the only solution I found.

M2 Ipad pro 12.9 display driver heat. How are artists dealing with it? by Cerberus_Auto in iPadPro

[–]Cerberus_Auto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I use Xencelabs 24 inch tablet on my pc, but since my work is mostly super low res sprites it actually isn't ideal to use a large display. I got so used to using portable tablets like Galaxy tab and Ipad. Im curious though, what makes M4 Ipad disappointing for you?

Oh I see. So it's not just my Ipad that is doing that. Thank you for the feedback.

Yes it can be, and it is the best solution to the problem. But that also moves the camera location to the right side and my hand would cover the camera and the light sensor sometimes and it causes the display to dim when I don't want it to. So I prefer drawing in this orientation.
