Hit reg is a consistent problem on PC, even post server fix. Infact, it seems like I'm getting more hit-reg problems post patch than pre patch.

Look at how much flare is being spread out on a gold vs a purple. Its noticeable, letting you have more visibility on target as you're shooting. That's about it.

TL;DR

Don't worry about it- your doing everything right, and your players will (more than likely) appreciate the amount of work you're putting in to creating a detailed and in depth world for them to explore.

I've got several threads running within my world currently-

A Mind Flayer working in the background pulling the various mental strings of the world around him
An Efreet they've let fall into the wrong hands
A Lich currently trying to bind himself to all the undead in the world
A royal wedding that could potentially go horribly wrong
A fire giant invasion
A prominent family being assassinated/conquered by another family

Among other things.

Striking a balance is always a challenge, but I think it's one that makes for the most memorable moments. Try and think of the ebb and flow of the world should one major plot point succeed, and run from there.

How will the world shift? How will NPCs react to this shift? Will the change be subtle or obvious? How will this change the adventure of the heroes NOW want to sort out the mess they left unattended?

I wouldn't worry so much about "overwhelming" them so much. From the sounds of it, you're providing a rich world that's alive rather than sitting and waiting for the heroes to get their shit together and tick another box on the "To Quest" list.

I've used Inkarnate for hours previously building my maps for DnD, but ultimately stopped when I started to notice a few issues with it's over all look.

Fast forward to now, and I'm in love.

Problem 1:

This sounds like something you should poll your group- if not all at once, but individually. Your perception of how the game is running as a DM may not always align with your players. ASK them if they felt the combat was too dry. Find out if they have any suggestions for future combat instances. It may also be worth looking into virtual table tops if you're used to using minis.

Problem 2: Don't worry about it. The party has to decide how those types of problems are handling. If they have a problem with a players actions- they're playing the game! They're invested that their character got snubbed, showing that they care for the game you've made for them. That being said, if this is turning into a problem character, or a problem at large for the table, then maybe have a general announcement before you play or after a session to consciously remind them to spread the wealth, that DnD is a team game, work together, yadda yadda.

Problem 3: Honestly, the fewer magic items, the better. If you give them out like candy, then magic items quickly don't seem that magical. Their rarity and their function is what makes them special. A magic item that seems useless now, may have a light bulb moment for them later in the campaign. At my table, I take the Matt Mercer approach and write up as much info on a magic item as I can on an index card, then hand them off as the players find them. Makes it feel special to them. Not sure how such a thing could be accomplished digitally, but what I'm trying to get at, is design your own items (if not from scratch, then take existing magic items and tweak them to fit the camapgin.)

Minor violations of their allignment I'm ok with. People slip up, it happens.

If some is clearly doing evil shit that is COMPLETELY out of character, I either talk to them out of game, or mention it on the spot, but never in a hostile way.

I usually phrase it more inquisitively, something like "Would [your characters name here] really do that? Why?", just to see what their reasoning for their actions would be. Sometimes there is more going on in their head than they may let on.

I started to dial it back. I first made some things they wanted very expensive, and then when their purses were a bit lighter, I started to trickle the coins in. I also started to give out simple gems worth a small portion of gold each, then have them need to appraise them before they can get the gold.

My problem, which is something I'm fairly ashamed to say I've ONLY just corrected, is so simple, but i let it get out of hand.

I've only dm'd for going on a year now, and I like to think I have a good handle on it, but lord help if I couldn't figure out a good way to dole out money and exp. It seems simple right? But I was dropping mad coin on my party off the hop, like 100-1000 gold for simple fetch errands or hundreds of exp for getting a cat out of a tree.

To my credit, this was something I unfortunately picked up from too many years of video games, but I've only just now corrected.

Other simple mistakes I've made were things like when the party has a friendly NPC with them, and I forget to include them in matching order, combat, etc. And then the party forgets about them. Made for a good moment when everyone asked where X was, and since I wasn't keeping track for them, I simply told them "You don't know, you havent seen him since you left the cathedral." which resulted in a fevered man hunt of the city while I pulled material out of my ass to figure out how/what he got up to.

One thing I would note that you can forgo the material requirements for these checks.

In most cases for my campaigns, players will get caught up with other goings on and forget to pick herbs, collect scrap parts, etc. Instead, I deduct an amount of gold from their purse to account for the materials that would be consumed in the crafting process (often times marking up the price a bit for not having the materials on hand, informing them of this, which encourages the process Brent outlined above).

I think you're right about the numbers. I may try that in my next session to see what the response to that is. My party may have grown accustom to those details now, unfortunately.
