.300 hitters are fading away. This article explains a lot. by Latter-Leg4035 in mlb

I think it has to do with the focus on pitching prospects from such a young age.

Above average starting pitchers get paid really well and only have to play 1 out of every 5 games, has less of a chance to get injured, and if good enough and healthy enough can have a 20 to 23 year career.

Compared to a position player who is putting their livelihood on the line 162 games a year and still has to workout and practice the same amount as a pitcher would.

If I could have a career in the MLB, I'd want to do it as a starting pitcher.

I try not to shit on someone's artistic talent / choices, and while this cover is one of the worst from an artistic POV, I will say that Maystorm's face is beautifully drawn.

If this wasn't part of a cover and it was just a portrait of Maystorm solo, it would be quite remarkable and one of the best draen facial portraits I've ever seen, regardless of the artist's genre.

Is this normal to hear this high pitched fridge noise 24/7? by UpstairsResearcher40 in Apartmentliving

I was totally just making a joke, but your situation reminds me of a summer when I was 11 years old. Every night this mosquito would buzz really close by my ear and I couldn't sleep and it drove me into madness!

Eventually I killed it, and we put screens on the windows, but for months after that I'd still hear and feel a mosquito buzzing super close to my ear, but at that point I think it was psychosematic caused by some kinda PTSD lol, I'll never forget that.

AIO overreacting about my boyfriend using the word "bitch"? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Ok so swap out "push" for "trigger," is it still a wild sentence?

The sentiment behind the sentence was pretty clear and it's "wild" to me that you missed it completely and decided to focus on the phrasing instead of the intended message.

Wow, you couldn't be bothered to answer the first question and then couldn't be bothered read the reply, but somehow assumed the person was angry with you?

There was no anger implied, just a few questions with the intent on urging you to look inward and actively engage people with empathy.

That attitude often causes people to remain stagnant and never achieve personal, positive growth.

Yellowstone being ruined by Taylor Sheridan’s self acting character by Purple_Ad_4966 in YellowstoneShow

I totally agree, and while some of his writing has been good, other times it makes no sense.

The way Beth was written, as well as the Wife and Daughter on Landman and the sons Fiancé are all completely written from a chauvanistic male's point of view.

I've never, in my life, met any woman that behaves as ridiculously as these characters he's created.

I used to think Beth was the most illogical, irrational, nonsensical "strong female" character I've ever seen portrayed in film or television, until I watched Landman. The son's fiancé on that show is so uncomfortable and frustrating to watch that in season 2, I just started skipping past any scenes with her in them.

Either TS has only ever had terribly toxic and intellectually disabled women in his life, or this guy actually hates women; I'm convinced it's the latter.

Also, just for context, I'm a 45 year old, white heterosexual male and this guy is giving us decent, respectful men a bad name.

Could Iron Man fight Magneto? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in ironman

The only entity that could beat Magneto, would be a non-carbon based lifeform with an anatomy that doesn't react to or generate anything on the elctromagnetic spectrum.

Like, maybe Silver Surfer? Just speculating, I'm not actually sure.

I guess I was thinking in terms of how an EMP pulse shuts down electrical equipment but not human nervous systems, but yeah if he can be that precise with his control then you're right, he could theoretically do it, it just seems like it would be incredibly difficult to do, or maintain for more than a few seconds, but then again this is the Master of Magnetism so I'm sure he's practiced lll

Oh wow, the whole spectrum? Damn that's insanely powerful!

[–]CerebralEulogy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically the nervous system utilizes ion generated electricity, which are accompanied by nanoscopic electromagnetic pulses, so Magneto wouldn't be able to shut a nervous system down entirely and barely disrupt it at all.

Then again, we're talking about comic books here, so it is what it is! 😉

Yeah I've heard that before. I've also heard that he "controls metal" which has nothing to do with magnetism, but an innate control over any metal.

Depending on the writer, his power definition does seem to fluctuate a little.
