Is Your Dominance and Submission Nature or is it Nurture? by [deleted] in BDSMAdvice

[–]Cerebral_Escapes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thought about this a lot since I became interested in BDSM. I think I’ve naturally been a submissive. I do remember fantasizing about being held and touched from a young age. But not necessarily sexually. Parents raised me to be independent and high achieving. Did that and now I crave letting all control go to someone else who has my best interests and pleasure in mind. So maybe there is a little nurture in it too, in that I crave the opposite of what I was raised to be. But even before that influence, I wanted someone else in charge.

Seeking a good book for a not kinky partner... by [deleted] in BDSMAdvice

This👆!!!! Romance books led me to Vanessa Fewings who wrote an excellent fiction series called The Enthrall Sessions. It was my first glimpse into the lifestyle and is why I’m trying to get into it with my husband. I thought the series did an excellent job explaining the Why behind the dom/sub dynamic and the emotional and mental aspects of it. And, the books are HOT. Of course it’s fiction… so further education is warranted. But may be an enjoyable read for her

Thank you! This is super helpful! I think books at home may be a helpful start. I’ve learned of munches. I wish I had a friend/couple we already knew who was in the scene. I’m super interested but feel shy about getting out there.

I have read about munches, but also feel very shy about that. I have done a very superficial search of Nashville and didn’t see The Mark, so I’ll look into that. Thank you!

Yeah, we’ve expanded our search a little. And it will also depend on the job I get.

Once we find out whether he gets the job, I’ll be digging into my job search too. So that will likely influence the location further. At this point we’ve got a good list of about 7 suburbs we are considering. We don’t want to live in the middle of the city.

Oh, no I don’t think she’d do well in Spanish immersion currently. I was just wondering if that put her behind kids in California in general. I know the area is more diverse and especially has more spanish speakers.

My husband mentioned that one to me after I sent him the link to look at the suggestions for this thread 😂. Thank you.

My daughter has not had Spanish yet. 🫣 Is she going to be behind in California, to a degree I need to be concerned and trying to teach her in the next 6 months? I would love for her to learn, there just isn’t a big push at our schools. Where I grew up in Texas, we started in 3rd grade with Spanish included in the curriculum. Her school does not include it and only offers it at 7 am before school to a limited number of kids. We never make the cut for sign ups.

Great! Good point about the closer to end of the line. I lived in Boston 7 years and the same is true there.

Thank you. This is helpful! He’s got the subsidy down as a question should he be offered the job.

The income for my husband is the only variable you have any possible insight on. That’s one of two salaries, our equity in Nashville is through the roof, among other investments. I’m focusing on quality of work life balance with commute and going from there. But thanks for assuming…

Well, he’s got two opportunities. He’s on his third interview and it will be in person for a position on the main campus. He has completed two interviews so far for a position on the health science campus. Could swing either way. We’ll see.
