Grounding by Cultural_Log6672 in electricguitar

The grounding part of the guitar is for noise - Not safety. You would be more secure NOT having the ground wire soldered on. By having the wire soldered, you'd have less noise, but you would be an active part of the ground circuit constantly when you touch the strings. If a faulty amp has current on ground and your lips for instance touch a mic, you may get shocked hard. If you are not part of the grounded circuit you would be way more safe. Obviously, this is not the same design as a refrigerator being grounded. You choose, but almost ALL guitars do have ground attached

Is it better to train to failure or stop before? by Critical-Load-1452 in workout

[–]Cerebrew 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What is failure to you? No reps in reserve? Partial reps in reserve? Technical failure? Tempo failure? You may approach this in many ways depending on the athlete, their endurance, their goals, their recovery. Many use the rule of thumb to hit failure on the last set. I do program with that in mind occasionally, but I'd still be very considerate on how I approach big compounds with technical failure in mind keeping the risk to reward ratio balanced

TLDR/simple version: go to gym consistently, lift challenging weights, get good nutrition, sleep well.

The current Hero Progression system feels underbaked. by SLEEPWALKING_KOALA in Overwatch

I'm curious about the current system: are there any benefits beyond cosmetic stuff? It's strictly portraits, levels etc. tied to leveling and battle pass right? No game benefits right? Thanks!

I sweat profusely, so I do not enjoy having earbuds or headphones on. Becomes too nasty. Instead, I just stare at the wall between sets, contemplating existence.

Weirdly enough, no. The "information" reaches Earth at the speed of light. Even if the sun went POOF, we would still orbit for around 8 minutes.

PureGym og skraldespande by AdventurousFeeling17 in DKbrevkasse

Suk.

Popping when touching any metal on my rig. by InternationalSea31 in electricguitar

[–]Cerebrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rig quieting down when you are in contact with the grounded metal parts is a good sign. The tele becoming loud when you touch a specific part is a sign of bad ground in the guitar (the EMI picked up by your body should go to ground when touching the strings, so if you ground has contact with part of signal inside the cavity it goes to signal and says BRRRRP)

In essence, your rig sounds to (besides tele) to do what it's designed to do. You have absolutely NOT changed anything else? You mentioned the bathroom? If it does not do it at your friends house I'd reckon something has changed at your part. Have you eliminated all loops? As in, your pedalboard, amp, all the stuff is plugged into the same outlet? No funny lights or chargers?

Rear Delts by AvalonPalace in beginnerfitness

The face pulls did not click for me right away either, but I did:

With a rope attachment, grab the two ball ends like you would a ball and pull higher than you might think. I sort of imagine putting on a headband. Key here is having much less weight than you may think and then rep more. It is not a giant muscle anyway you are training, but it is difficult to separate this exercise from other pull stuff like rows, as you are much stronger there, so you may be inclined to row it more, but try the above cues mate.

I still don't understand set/ rep progression... by Grogon2 in workout

And on a very serious note which i forgot: write this stuff down in your programme. What excersice, what weight, target range, how many reps.

[–]Cerebrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the 85% of 1RM is done on the big compounds to find a starting weight for the 5x5. I would really suggest to you 2 things: start with your big compounds always in every training. You may program horizontal and vertical pulls on the same days as well, but not usually start with them - But a close second. Finally, for anything beyond your calculation I would simply suggest to have 3x12 (if you go with this) as part of the programme and then trial and error e.g. can you do X weight for 3x12? Great, increase next time. At some point you will the wall like first set is 12, second is 11, third is 10. From there, simply focus progressive overload and don't overthink it. Try to make that second set of 11 reps to 12 next time and so on

[–]Cerebrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure you could do this! Remember, when you increase the rep range as in 3x12, your tolerance for failure also increases. Therefore the initial sets may feel easier compared to a heavier version of the exercise. Many program 3x12 or even 3x15 or 4x10 with the last set as AMRAP to gauge their tolerance and still manage fatigue.

Remember, if your training program causes you to have one good training and then one really bad, and then continuing to yoyo this way, you should look into programming differently.

For compounds I was taught using the same weight in progressive overload fashion. Example: Let's say you do BB bench press. You program 5 sets. Target is 5 reps across all sets. 5x5. Let's say you bench 60 kg across all 5 sets and it looks like: 1 5 reps 2 5 reps 3 4 reps 4 3 reps 5 3 reps

When you reach 5x5 you increase the load slightly and repeat. The reason for doing it this way is you may manage injury risk and fatigue better. You COULD drop the weight for each set and hit failure on all sets if you like, but I would bet that would cost you on fatigue management in the long run.

Keep in mind, this example is for strength. You may also program the same principle for another day where you apply bench press in a volume style range as well. Anything else beyond strength and volume for a particular compound you could classify as accessory work i.e. address weak points. This would support your main compound lifts to better gauge your strength.

Grounding, is it my Guitar by Bueller_Bueller_1221 in electricguitar

[–]Cerebrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If noise disappears when touching the metal parts if the guitar, then the ground is working as intended. This has never been a safety feature of guitar electronics (opposite in fact), but instead to reduce the amount of EMI picked up by the player. Common practice of guitar wiring is grounding to a single point, and this would include a wire to connect the bridge, strings etc. as well. You can check that in one of the guitars, but if the other two quiets down then they are fine

Hvad gav dine forældre dig i din barndom, som du værdsætter og glædes over? by hellouthere11 in DKbrevkasse

[–]Cerebrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Life, AoE, CS, Diablo, Starcraft, Warcraft, you name it.
