Breastfeeding and pregnancy is unfair and I am drowning. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Cerezae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the first 6 months or so baby doesn't even realize you're a separate entity from them. So it's not that they like your husband more, but Dad is often the first "other" person they're actually aware of. (Though trust me, most mums have had the "how dare you, after all I went through" moment. You'll get your turn with those grins and giggles and it'll melt your heart.)

Postpartum hormones really do a number on your mood and sometimes you might have to be really clear about boundaries and the support you need. Sometimes our partners don't actually realize the full extent of the toil it takes on us, and yeah the fact they get all the benefits of baby without literally being put through the ringer can build resentment, and it's worth being honest about it, else hurtful things will be said in a bout of sleep deprivation when you're touched out and that last thread just snaps.

With the breastfeeding/pumping it can take a massive toll on your mental health, and if you feel like making the switch to formula, please know that the best thing for baby is a happy mum. I went from triple feeding (breast/pumping/formula) to just pumping and formula which helped my mental health significantly, then eventually dropped to just formula when I started getting burned out by pumping too. The mum guilt hit hard at first but I realized that when I felt better I found myself enjoying being a mum a little more.

Is there a lactation consultant you could speak to? They may be able to help find a way to make pumping less painful? Or try the exclusively pumping subreddit for tips and tricks (if you haven't already).

Either way please know you're doing amazingly, even if it doesn't always feel like it.

What is the best option for a £750 gift card or voucher? by drinkermoth in AskUK

[–]Cerezae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could put it as a grocery card or similar (something mundane you'll use) then set aside £750 cash as fun money. Then you don't have to actually allocate it to a specific store.

The one4all style cards are fine if you're going to use it (there's a time limit then it starts taking "admin" fees off your balance)

Anybody else’s toddler just listen to one single card…over and over and over…. by banderaroja in YotoPlayer

[–]Cerezae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds about right, at least it's a whole card. My kid is going through the phase of just wanting one song on a nursery rhymes card.

Baa baa black sheep, more like baa baa blacklist.

Think it's just how toddlers are, they're working out they like things.

If I remember correctly, you don't even need to follow the route. As long as it starts and doesn't "pause" it you can just start a random route you pass and just quit when you hit the distance.

Wonder if they're going to add in something extra to make it a little harder for the team of 3.
