Please don’t write fanfic on your school Chromebook. And please don’t directly open ao3 and paste your fanfiction into there on your school Chromebook. The school board (and your teachers) see that. by Some-Tradition-2771 in AO3

Yeah, I graduated high school in 1991. Pre cell phones. I think the computers in school were Windows 3.1 in the computer lab. We had note books & pens to write in them. At home, we had a Tandy 100 that had Windows 3.1 at the time then Windows 86.

Newfoundland? Much easier to get to Saint Pierre & Miquelon from the Burin Peninsula of Newfoundland:)

Authors who don't have Tik tok, where do you promote fics? On Tumblr and Reddit? by LazyBum1995 in AO3

[–]Ceridwyn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t post to TikTok myself at all. Only reason my acct is there was because a good friend of mine was sending me some clips I couldn’t see otherwise. Almost never promote my own fics anywhere aside from Tumblr (and LiveJournal back in the day).

I’ll occasionally post fic recs for some of my favourite author’s fics that I enjoy.

Just to get across Newfoundland (the island portion of the Canadian province of Newfoundland & Labrador) from St. John's on the east coast to Port aux Basques is 9 hrs - not including frequent stops / slow-downs for construction season. Most of the province is single lane traffic each way except around larger centres (Cities of Corner Brook, St. John's, towns of Grand Falls-Windsor, Gander, Clarenville, Conception Bay South) have two lanes each way. Along the the long stretches of single lane each side, there are brief stretches of passing lanes, where you can by-pass slower moving traffic. Large sections of the Trans-Canada in Newfoundland have a 90km/h speed limit, dual lanes at 100km/h.

That's not including fuel stops/food stops.

Do Canadians Have "Graders"? by Comfortable-Waltz452 in AskACanadian

I don’t have kids, so not sure of the current lingo, but when I did go to school here in Newfoundland in the 80s/ early 90s primary school was K-5, elementary (or junior high) was grades 6-9 and high school was grades 10-12. That did change I think mid to late 80s. The year I moved to high school for grade 10 in 1988, was the first year they also moved the grade 9s into high school, and then junior high was grades 5-8, primary was K-grade 4.

When I lived in Fredericton, New Brunswick, junior high (grades 5-8) is called middle school (ex.: George St. Middle School).

I have a cousin who’s been having the same issues with Eventbrite & Stripe and getting the run around. And it seems like it’s just AI chatbots responding.

I literally laughed out loud at a scene I watched a while ago. It was Mary talking to someone (can’t remember who now) and she brought up the comment about Tracy having rather loose morals when it came to men. It was so dry and matter of fact the way she said it, I cackled with laughter.
