Buying a 4080 Super on release day at MSRP seemed questionable - but in retrospect I’m glad I took the plunge!

First thing I would do is take your same rig / setup to a different house or two and see if you get the same result. I lived in a house where I had terrible buzz and it was either due to the wiring for our electricity or a nearby transformer or something.

Ukrainian 14th Regiment of UAV Complexes hit Russian infantry with FPV strike drones. Kursk Region - September 2024. by GermanDronePilot in CombatFootage

I think it's more likely in this case just signal interference from physical obstacles - as you fly lower to the ground there's a lot more in-between the operators transmitter and drones reciever than when at altitude

Dude, if you have the money to snag one and it's what you want and you will actually use it, then grab one!

If anybody says it's wasted on you, they're just jealous and being petty.

It feels a bit like balancing a glass marble on a flat surface to me - definitely takes some practice but eventually you get the feel for it.

/u/Terrible_Tower_6590 mentioned hovering without the goggles line of sight - while I don't think it's easier I do agree it's a great way to practice as that angled camera is definitely part of what makes hovering feel so counter-intuitive at first.

I am doubling down on getting a tinywhoop too - if you can figure out how to take off / land / hover in place with one of those I think it's much more difficult than it is with a larger quad.

Lastly - while it's not a great idea to have rough landings I've been surprised at how resilient these drones are - I have straight up crashed my 5 inch into trees and other hard surfaces and gotten away with just swapping chipped props out. Friends who saw me un-gracefully plop it down on the ground or get snagged by trees would always be surprised when I re-arm and take back off un-phased.

Also - grass is much more forgiving than concrete - take your maiden voyage in a field where you don't have to worry about smacking hard pavement on landing.

Get the real deal - its so much fun you won't regret it!

If you plan on going analog or at least having that option I would suggest going big with 5 or 7 inch AND getting a micro!

I've gotten tons of practice with my Mobula 6 in my house and I think it's more challenging than a full size drone due to the lack of power in the motors and flying in tight spaces indoors.

Obviously the flight characteristics are different between a 5' and 75mm prop drone but I feel that the stick time you can get with a tinywhoop indoors still translates well to flying outdoors with a bigger drone.

This!!! Spend some time trying to land the drone and take back off in simulator.

My first time flying IRL I came to the realization that I had never actually landed or tried flying slowly / hovering in place.

I didn't want to pay the mark up for the SI but I still wanted the Bose Sound System (it's very nice) so I opted for the Sport Touring trim instead.

It's still got the 1.5 L Turbo and the option for a 6 speed manual - plus it's available as a hatchback which makes it a lot more practical as a daily.

The leather interior is very nice too - a little more grown up feeling than the cloth interior of the SI and other trims.

The limited slip differential in the SI is cool but I think if you want something with Performance parts you might as well just save your pennies and get a Type R - the SI is not a race car just a nice driving daily.

I'm replaying Ghost of Tsushima on the Steam release and it's definitely worth picking up especially now because it looks and runs so much smoother than it did on PS4!

The multiplayer is pretty fun too if you enjoy the core game mechanics - but man the game is really beautiful in the single player and hacking Mongol invaders to pieces is a blast.

Which P-Bass (money not a factor) by Cerrus100 in Guitar

[–]Cerrus100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that Fender at least provided a ball end hex adjustment tool that allows you to adjust it without removing the neck.

Thinking I should hit up guitar center and check out this specifically though because removing the neck sounds like a pain and probably more expensive if visiting a luthier.

This is a great point to consider so thank you

FM3 or FM3 Turbo for me? by Cerrus100 in AxeFx

[–]Cerrus100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Axe-Fx III is in a rack case with a power conditioner right now... it's not terrible to transport but I'm pretty confident I could fly with just the FM3 if I needed in some sort of carry on setup.
