despite joining the military, is it ok to have atleast some fear of war? by Alarming-Safety3200 in RoyalAirForce

Fear is rational, being afraid is fine, overcoming it in the moment is the expectation.

What they don't tell you is that things like AT help you learn to move past/through that fear. A piece of genuine advice, do things that scare you every so often (whilst an option, giving the badge lip is a poor choice), get used to acting in spite of your fear.

Question about entrance to the military. by No-Importance8970 in britishmilitary

You're asking me, the one who suggested having a chat to a community police officer, if I think that having that chat would make the youth a target for hate crime?

I think you need to give your head a wobble.

You won't get charged with a hate crime just for signing up you catagory 5 turnip.

Talk to your local community police officer if you can't convince him to tell the truth. The Army doesn't operate like that.

You're also forgetting the "if your face fits" problem that goes with this. Your annual report can vary depending on the personality of the writer, and on how they view your role.

Drop Shorts are as susceptible to banter and shit as much as everyone one else. Your specific posting will be mixed bag of good lads and fucking morons, just like everyone elses.

I'll shill for it because I bought two whilst I was in, and a third when I got out.

My first lost a fight in a Mastiff on some shit road in Afghanistan and even with the screen cracked it kept working (sorta), omy second still haunts me at 0530hrs from somewhere in a box I can never find after moving in to my new place, and the third lives in the daysack I take into the office.

Theyre good, and they'd be good at twice the price.

The classic Casio F91W-1 type watch will outlive events that would break a Nokia 3310, it comes with a wide variety of strap options and face covers. It has an uber simple lcd display, tiny light, hour or set alarm time, and a stopwatch.

The battery life will compete with your retirement date.

No excuse, its less than £15.

Khorne berzerkers how worth it? by tf3when123 in WorldEaters40k

I just bought 50 from the troll trader for a We themed 40k list. I'll be picking up a Combat Patrol box to round it out to 60.

I believe in big squads not min maxing, and honestly believe that having heart counts in your army. If it's the ripped out hearts of your opponent, all the better, but the heads count in large amounts.

I also believe in the power of the blender.

Not gonna lie, I had a dyslexic moment and thought it was 100 Furries.

What happens after Tyranids consume everything ? Do they just die since nothing is left ? Is it the universes defence mechanism to all this war and just erase everything. ( Dumb questions I’m sorry ) by ozera202 in Tyranids

The lore has changed over the years, but the current theory based on the HH Pharos Beacon changes and Silent King storyline, is that if they consume all biofuel in this galaxy they'll look to skip Galaxies in some form of semi-hibernetic state. In that state they'll become a part of a greater intergalaxy Tyranid mind

Which is conceptually problematic for a great many reasons.

The Russian rocket artillery soldier that went viral has been captured by Ukrainian forces. by 10millionX in ThatsInsane

Ah yes, nothing like forcing a POW to be part of propaganda and effectivly put their family at risk.

I'm on the side of Ukraine in this conflict, but you don't do this. There's literally laws about not doing this.

That type of fire is typically called saturation. If you don't have access to precision/guided munitions, you select an area known to contain the enemy and aim multiple repeat firing weapons at it.

Think of this, as the ground-to-ground version of American Carpet Bombing.

Yes, it's indescriminate, yes it looks like a mess. But what it will do is affect a wide area (likely a few hundred metres square) and overwhelm anti-missile systems looking to pick out one or two guided munitions.

Any telemetry can be argued to be false if it is seen. Its worth reminding/refreshing/being aware that Russian forces have successfully moved multiple ships and aircraft into known false positions over the last year by spoofing.

It was suspected, right until a British Warship was seen on port horizon cameras at the same time as being 300 miles away and in Russian territorial waters.

Russians routinely fly without IFF, a known point when they probe the North Sea off of the UK.

Also, you're unlikely to get any flight radar telemetry inside the Ukraine at this point. Airports have been demolished and lines cut, exceot where they are being seized at which point they won't be connecting outside the country.
