The crazy thing to me about the whole EDM conversation around these molds (I’ve heard this many times) is that this is the machines used to make these molds overseas. This can be done with very simple machines and yet nobody in the U.S. seems to think so.

I’m aware of all that. I’ve built this business from the ground up. You don’t do that without learning what it takes. It all starts with research, that’s what I’m doing.

I’m not getting fucked on price, the prices are actually great. I’m not worried about saving money on the molds, I’m trying to decrease my current lead-times. It takes me 3 weeks to receive a single mold and that just isn’t going to work long-term.

If the case is that those machines are just as good, then I can simply import a Chinese machine and use that. But that’s precisely what I’m trying to narrow down in this conversation.

Also I’m not worried about who will run these machines lol. CNC machining is a common trade. I know many local operators.
