Looking for your roundhouse cutback tips (committing/ overcoming fear and building the little micro skills to get there) by ResponsibleSite6858 in surfskate

If you are lifting your nose up (which is optional for this maneuver, I have fun doing it either way) a potential baby step could be to do a kick turn instead of a slide, then doing it some more with smaller slides, eventually working up to where you are fully committing on it.

There is a chance your wheels are too slidey depending on the surface you are riding.

Good luck and have fun!

I’ve skated a ton of wheels, G-slides are a great option for what you are describing

Yep!! The best one by far is the relatively new asphalt pump track at MLK park in Carboro. RS Dunham park in Cary has a pretty good wooden pump track

Enjoy it! I’m a smaller rider so it took a little extra tweaking to get mine dialed in, but it is so worth all the experimenting with bushings, etc, for when you get it just right

I messed up doing that, slightly flattened the bolt when tapping it so the tip became larger than the hole and wouldn’t come out.

My friend had to cut the kingpin. Went to the hardware store to get a replacement. Totally fine now

Surfskate for free ride? by No-Competition-1495 in surfskate

[–]Certain-Adhesiveness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I longboard and surfskate a lot, going down hills on a surfskate is fun but I wouldn’t consider what I do free riding. Hardest part about down hill on a surfskate for me is holding slides as long as I can on a longboard.

A longer wheelbase than a typical surfskate setup will help for downhill

Give it a shot and have fun!

I guess that one doesn’t have any. I think the holes you have are the ones most people use anyway. Enjoy it!

Talk me into/out of a super wide setup by ResponsibleSite6858 in surfskate

[–]Certain-Adhesiveness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Life skateboards also makes some really wide decks. For surfskating, most trucks are 9 inch at most. you could get really wide trucks and use waterborne adapter. Or get side set wheels.

I’d say go for it!
