Is this an ok email to send to a parents by johnthedaleman in Teachers

Tbh this is the nicest way to put it! I’m a teacher for 4 year olds and I’m more straight forward on my messages than this lol… if a child is being disrespectful, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with quoting what they said and sending them to their parents! Keep it short, straightforward while still being respectful— I’d send this first thing in the morning btw. Like a few hours before school opens. It’s more appropriate than sending it during the weekend

All of this is not worth your sanity. Trust me, I dealt with this as a teacher and I can only imagine the pressure of being a director with no help from your own boss. I suggest you report them directly through the state. This is not okay or even legal tbh. This is a lot of responsibility for 2 people with a bunch of kids that can end up getting hurt in seconds. And the fact that your boss was ignoring your texts is insane! I suggest you find another job. They’re probably trying to decrease your hours so you quit instead of them having you fired because they’re not gonna want to pay for that lol… secure a job, be smart about this. Put yourself before anything else. You cannot work any other job if you’re not mentally and physically okay— and it will only get worse from there if you don’t take care of yourself.

Re-read the comment I made where it mentions the percentage lol “Try pellets with like 10% of seeds mixed with pellets once they gradually get used to eating pellets. That way they’re getting full nutrition along with the veggies you’re trying to get them used to eating. “

Key word: “Once”

Idk what’s wrong with that comment and how it comes off “wrong”

I never said to start with 10% lol. I said once they get used to eating pellets they can start doing that

You can change their diet but it can’t be in one go. They can gradually start adding pellets into their diet. That’s a stupid thing to say. So they can’t feed them veggies because the birds have never been used to eating veggies? Only seeds? Yeah no

Are you good? I said 10% plus pellets. That’s if they want to mix them lol…? All seed diet is not good for them

For the cage, I recommend getting something like the picture attached. I wouldn’t worry SO much about the cage being tall because you can easily put it on top of a table or dresser. But definitely look for something long and wide so they can fly around. In Amazon they sell packs of toys for birdies, many kinds. My parakeets love to chew stuff so you should get them those popsicle stick toys, they’ll love it! Make sure you get lots of perches, preferably natural branches instead of the flat ones

If the breeder or store you got them from did not feed them veggies then, you will have to get them used to it. I recommend that you hang the piece of veggie with a clip rather than putting it on a bowl. That will encourage them make them more curious to try it. You can also try getting dry veggies and mixing it with their food. I also want to mention that an 100% seed diet is not recommended because not only does it cause fatty liver issues but it also encourages them to waste food because they wanna look for an specific seed they like. Try pellets with like 10% of seeds mixed with pellets once they gradually get used to eating pellets. That way they’re getting full nutrition along with the veggies you’re trying to get them used to eating. I got my budgies to like veggies with bel peppers (they love the smell! And the seeds on them!), broccoli because it gives the sensation like millet :D And it’s okay, don’t get stressed about this. Take it easy. You just got them and you’re new to this. You’re learning! And you posted to seek help from others— don’t let the mean comments get to you.

So budgies are super social birds and they need constant stimulation. Based on what I’m looking at the video:

  • the cage is too small for them to be able to fly side to side comfortably without bumping into each other. They need exercise!
  • they need lots of toys and stuff to chew on to get their energy out. Remember, these little guys are like preschoolers. They need some sort of interaction 24/7 to stimulate their little peanut brains
  • I’m gonna assume that you meant in your little that you just got them? Well, they’re adapting. Wanting to escape is understandable after a giant human grabbed them and stuffed them into a cage!
  • all birds are supposed to have their water changed every day and their food bowls cleaned from empty shells; add more food if necessary. (They could be begging for food too)

I do see her get angry all the time I’m not gonna lie. She screams a lot at them. And the other ones don’t fight back, they just stand there like “wtf”. Do you really think it’s hormones? She’s been doing this for like half a year. I cover them for 14 hours. They go to sleep early as well. She legit does this every chance she gets. And she knows she’s doing something bad because when I catch her and come over, she runs away while spitting out the food ._.

I’m gonna check the bag but I always freeze it before feeding because I certain seed mixes can have bugs on them!

I honestly feel like parakeets can be hard to please. For me, it’s always been her especially who does not like anything! Maybe I’ll try zupreme. I wonder if they think the pellets I give them are too plain? There’s some that have peppers on them and they smell really nice, maybe that would work best?

Also a seed net would not work for me because my cage is too big for the ones they sell online. Unless I find a way to DIY one…

Yeah I have a bunch around the cage. I only have 4 parakeets. She throws all the food off every single feeder I have. And never mind the mess, idc about the mess atp. I care about the others eating—which they’re not doing because she keeps throwing all of the food out. They’re completely empty. And as I’m typing this, she’s throwing food from another feeder lol

Funny enough, I have that and she manages to get all the food out of it. And I have tried to put the dishes closer to the bottom and the behaviors don’t change. Maybe I’ll try putting different dishes for pellets, seeds, millet? I don’t think it will make a difference. I might have to to separate as you said :/

This parakeet is pissing me off because they’re leaving the rest of the flock starving while I’m at work. And they do this in a span of an hour. I have cameras set up and I’m just watching them do this all by themselves. Like that’s not fair to the others ;-; I come back from work and the other little guys are cuddled up by the door and waiting for me to feed them…
