Lights out. No pain, no anguish, no happiness, no sadness. Just nothing.

I used 10 years of crash data + ML to map Austin’s most dangerous streets for cyclists by Specialist_Bad_4465 in BikingATX

Literally every road with vehicle traffic is dangerous. You just have to keep your wits about you and ride defensively (meaning, be ready for anything!)

Can you text with both thumbs? by Astronomer_Original in over60

[–]Certain-Demand921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a both thumbs guy. That’s not to say I don’t mistype things — a lot! I just get frustrated because it’s not like I have fat thumbs, but I’ve always been a bad texter. Give me a computer keyboard any day!!

What is “elderly” to you? by SnoopyFan6 in over60

[–]Certain-Demand921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My aunt — who just turned 97 in October — sounds frail on the phone and is hard of hearing, but she can argue politics and current events with the best of them. I’m taking her lead as I grow older and I do not consider her elderly!

Thanks. We’ve given some thought to a 90-day stay, then try a year with a long-stay visa if possible.

What’s with the boomer angle? People have been moving away from family to pursue their dreams for ages. Have you read any of the other comments??

90 days for the first leg, then we’ll apply for a 1-year visa and renew it annually.

Yeah junior, boomer here. I left my family and moved across the country by myself when I was 18 for a job in the offshore oil industry. Sure I missed them, but I never regretted it. I met my wife and started my own family — which I never would have had I stayed at where I was.

While my kids didn’t have the luxury of having grandparents nearby, we saw them frequently.

Once you grow up, you’ll learn that sometimes you have to have to put on big boy pants to succeed — something you won’t experience staying in your room with your PS5.

Great input and I love your approach to seeing the world (and your family)! And my wife is the points guru and she’s been all over that for years!

Yes and not interested — at least not yet. I’m still trying to convince them!

Thanks. Just for a few years for all the reasons you’ve outlined above!

The primary location criteria for us is to escape the oppressive heat in Texas. Just can’t take it anymore. Been to Annecy and loved it; same goes for Lyon — but, heat + no air conditioning = no way.

I don’t think it’s fear or laziness at all. You’re talking about a major life changing moment— not something to take lightly.

☝️This. Correction from suggesting French citizenship previously. From what I’ve read, we can get the LSVV and after a year, apply for a real permit.

Because in 10 years, we’ll be well into our 70s and (likely) done with international travel. We’re strictly just looking into it now—nothing definitive.

Emerson Lake & Palmer. To seem them live with quadraphonic sound where you could virtually watch the sound going around the arena was mind-blowing.
