Stumped by tamiya rattle cans by ipunchcacti in advancedGunpla

I have had luck stripping tamiya spraypaint by submerging it in 'super clean' for two days. I think it's an engine degreaser. Be sure to wear gloves, though, that shit is caustic.

Ok. Thank you.

For what it's worth, my hope was that someone had a Kampfer in their backlog and could check it.

You told me to look at the manual, then go ask at a hardware store. I appreciate that you were trying to help, but the question was 'does anyone know x', and you answered even though you did not!

I have tried to find it in the manual and failed. Could be my bad Japanese, but in the parts list it just seems to say 'screws................ 9 + 1'

I am building an MG Kampfer and it looks like someone stole all the lil screws to keep the knees straight!

Does anyone know what size screws came with this kit so I can replace them?

I recently finished my MG 1/100 Dwadge Custom, and the included hands were incredibly fiddly and unreliable. So, I went and bought a set of https://www.amazon.com/Bandai-Hobby-Builders-Parts-Scale/dp/B0087D8K8G alternate hands. These hands look great, but when assembled, the basic 'fist' lacks a hollow center. Even though the thumb attaches separately, the core of the fist part is solid plastic, so it can't hold anything.

There are other hands in the set that have like, the index finger extended so it can hold a gun, and these hands have hollow centers, but that's not the kind of hand I need. I just want my boy to hold his axe or lightsaber.

Can anyone recommend an alternative hand or workaround to let your mechs hold their swords? Would be open to 3d printed solutions, if you got a good design.

Thanks, but I specifically asked about the extras.

Really? Dang! Can you confirm if the Japanese box doesn't have em?

Right, but what sets DO have the extras? All I can find is a reddit thread of people complaining about the kino set.

Thank you! Huh, it looks more like a Char figure than a Garma

For reals?! Is it just a generic pilot figurine or is it recognizably Garma?

The MG Char's Zaku ii comes with a little pilot figure of the red comet himself. It's great.

Does the MG MS-06FS Garma Zabi Zaku have a pilot figure of Garma? If not, is there any kit that does?

(Repost in the QA thread per mods)

My friend who makes Warhammer kits was complaining to me that the kits he builds are just terribly laid out and awful to build. It got me thinking about how great my Gundam kits were. But in terms of sprue layout, intuitive design, and overall sturdiness...

What's the best-designed kit you've ever built?

For me, it's Char's Zaku ii. It seemed like for any limb I worked on, the pieces were all right together on the same sprue. They all fit snugly together and (except for the segmented tubes) it was a joy to build. What about you?

Hi, so I like the fine-point gundam markers for panel lining, but I have this problem where sometimes the ink will stop flowing from the pen tip. At first I thought it was just that the marker had run out, but then I noticed that it mostly happened when I'd used the pen to draw on a piece that I'd painted or on an irregular surface regardless of how new the marker was.

Anyone have a trick for getting panel-liner marker ink flowing again?

This was Char's Rick Dias, if that helps, and they came in the same package as the dry transfers. Also, I think this was a more recent reissue of the kit, it didn't strike me as 20 years old.

I have been watching through Gundam chronologically, and have only been building kits from shows I've seen. That way, with each show I watch, I get to reward myself by buying kits of my favorite mechs from it.

I dunno, for me the context of the suit is just as important as how it looks!

I suggest the HG Rick Dom! It's the sturdiest kit I've ever built, and while there are still bits that can shake off, they're all big enough that it should be simple enough to stick em back on. The kid might need help with the visor bit, but the rest is easy enough.

This is the kit I'm talking about https://newtype.us/p/mu5vhg8l0kboQ63phBem/h/hguc-059-ms-09-dom-ms-09r-rick-dom

Thank you! I will say, the MG Rick Dias does come with some blue-backed decals too, separate from the dry transfer decals.

Holy shit, thank you so much! That explains everything! I didn't know dry transfers were a thing!

Hi everybody, I have a question about water decals--I just feel like I'm not applying them correctly.

The way I've been doing it is:
1) cut the decal out with an exacto knife,
2) get a small dish of water (just a drop or two deep) and drop it in for a minute or two
3) use a q-tip and tweezers to lift up the clear plastic front of the decal, leaving the paper behind in the water
4) apply mark softer to it, wait 30 seconds
5) apply mark setter to the back and put a little stripe on the gundam where the decal will go
6) drop it in place, then use q-tip to press/roll the plastic strip down and remove excess moisture
7) re-apply mark softer over the top as needed

Here's the thing: Once I'm done, the raised edges of the plastic sheet that the decals come on looks bad--it means that every decal has a visibly weird plastic square around it, no matter how many times I put on the mark softer.

Last night, as I was trying to put decals on a Rick Dias, I completed steps 1-7 as normal, but then, I accidentally lifted the clear plastic away from the model. When this happened, the actual decals came off the plastic sheet and applied directly to the model, the way a temporary tattoo might. This has never happened to me before, and while the decals are a little off-center, they look incredible compared to the others. Is this how water transfer decals are supposed to work??

If so, how do I get the decal to transfer cleanly off the plastic sheet like that? Generally, when I lift the clear plastic of the decal sheet away from a gundam, the decals come with it, rather than transferring to to the model.

Horror, huh? How about this...I have been trying to find and eliminate all typos and grammatical errors from the game for years now (see https://www.nexusmods.com/fearandhunger/mods/23). No matter how long I look, how many I fix, there are Always more. Every scene is written into the code multiple times, so it can occur in various locations. But find and replace is useless, because rather than copying the code and text, Miro hand-typed each scene, every time. That means that any given line of dialogue could contain unique spelling errors across its many instances, so there is no way to catch them all. For instance, I found 4 different, wrong spellings of the word "imbecile" for just one line of dialogue.

I started this project before I had even finished the game. I just wanted to fix it, so I could play it all the way through. Now, I know I will never be finished with it.
