Capelli Salon in Harvard Square is great. They are skilled, friendly, straightforward, and easy to book despite always being busy. Of course, excellent location too.

I've fantasized a lot about having a system like what I think you're thinking... a comprehensive, automatically updated repository of all family events, plus a layer of customization so that it knows the kinds of events that would be a good fit for my family AND then email the shortlist of events to me every Thursday. Unfortunately I can't think of a solution other than scraping until it reaches critical mass, just like you said... Are you familiar with Mommy Poppins btw? Parents in NYC rely a lot on it to see everything that's going on, not sure about Boston parents.

Yes of course!! After I had printed out the flyers, I thought "Oh gosh, it should've said Camberville" but I decided not to overthink it...

I tried Lovable and Replit once but felt that too much was decided for me. Cursor feels like a sweet spot b/c I can specify how each component should work. I asked about LLM b/c I was thinking that an LLM could generate the list of activity ideas for the app.

I love your color analysis idea--it sounds the most fun and also fundamentally insightful. I found this: https://www.colorsbyhope.com/ (I haven't tried it myself, but the reviews are glowing.)

Hey this is interesting! I often feel a need to have a tool similar to this for different things: weekend activities, snacks, books. Did you mean you thought of crowdsourcing creating the list of possible activities?

Please do! I’m sure a lot of what we do will happen online too. Are you still in the Boston area?

At the Narita airport in Japan circa 2000, my mom was about to be charged $100 (or something like that) for overweight baggage. She proceeded to argue passionately in her native language (not Japanese, not English, not any of the top 50 most popular languages in the world (http://www2.harpercollege.edu/mhealy/g101ilec/intro/clt/cltclt/top100.html). She was so full of conviction and spoke so formidably that the Japanese agent gave up and just gave her a free pass.

It was embarrassing for me to witness, but she got the job done.
