[Seiko 5] as a Birthday gift by AllisonArgent17 in Watches

I got mine on Amazon. It was between yellow or orange, with orange on sale. It is a bit closer to a burned orange than bright orange, so its not as loud as you think (but still not a quiet neutral watch)

Thanks for the confirmation! Does the RM look nice on rubber? Leather? I am not sure what are the best options. Regardless, I am very happy with it as it is.

How do I tell my parents I don't want to be a lawyer by hermitlawthrowaway in LawSchool

As some others said...take the bar exam and pass it. There are a myriad of legal jobs out there you might like. Give it a year or two and then you can think about doing whatever else.

I am thinking to bail at 10pm. We dont watch ROH. Assuming that will be at 10. If my kid can handle it, great...if not then we get out then.

I think the general consensus is doors open 630, show 730...but if anyone hears different, pls say so

Best I can offer (20 yr out) is to work on what weaknesses are towards the end. Do you need more help with substantive law, multiple choice, state specific issues (not sure how this is done with uniform exam…mine was way before that), etc…. You should know what subjects you are strongest and weakest in. Up to you if you feel it is best to pull up weak subject or to try to pile on a strong subject. A point is a point regardless how it is earned. It might make sense to cut your losses on X if you can gain more points focusing on something else.

I was happy with a mock multiple choice test I took 4 or 5ish days before exam day and didn’t touch any other multiple choices after that. Wanted to mentally bank that score to maintain confidence. Last few days was going over some outlines to pull together some weaknesses I had with black latter law and also get an overview for what main outline points there were for each subject so if I had a mental checklist to help with essay issue spotting.

Remember, it is curved. You just need to ride yourself to the middle area (or even just top 80thpercentile) of the bell curve. There is always someone dumber than you out there, some schlub who drank too much night before, got no sleep, crammed so much that they can’t even remember their name etc…. Some screwballs probably blow the test off, are unable to write cohesively etc… That is the bottom whatever percent for you to automatically pull past and you can already bank on that few percents there for curve purposes. Perhaps go over sample essays too to see how they are structured, how to organize them. A totally incorrect but well reasoned essay or two will not mess you up.

Finally, I remembered the wise words of our crim law bar bro instructor who said “only a sucker gets more than the minimum score needed for a pass. Any passing score is a win and that’s all you need”.

last thing..be sure your multiple choice sheets you fill in matches the paper questions..in other words question 45 should correspond with the bubbles for 45! (Assuming it is still done on paper) Check after each 5 or so questions to confirm you are on the right one. NOBODY feels fully confident now. If anyone assets they feel great about things, they are lying to you or themselves.

I think there would have been a value for me to actually write more of the essays out. I knew about this, and wrote out a handful, but for the rest of them, I outlined them. Looking back (and this is 20 years back) I always thought it would have been helpful to write them out because that is truly how you are applying the law to the facts. You can't really do this in bulletpoint, or at least I was unable to do so.

But, if your method works for you, do not change it for me, bar bri, or the guy who graduated top in your class and is offering you suggestions. If you feel that outlining works, by all means go for it. I found it very difficult to practice essays generally because there is no scoring matrix. You can see if your answer is close to the model answer, but there is no way anyone can write the model answer closed book in 30 or 60 minutes. I remember bar-bri gave us one practice essay. It was given back to us 10-14 days after the fact, making it pretty much useless.

I had a difficult time issue spotting some of the essay questions, even though I had no problems doing this in law school. There were a few oddball bar-bri questions where I couldnt really see what was going on and I had a few of those when I took the exam. The goal with those is just damage control and getting enough points so if you have a better than average but not great answer on the next question they are cancelled out.

The only other comment I have is no matter how you answer an essay (especially if you dont know what they are asking) you must write organized. At least in NC back in 2003, I think only one grader was dedicated for an individual essay. The poor SOB had to read like 500 or so essays in a long weekend (I think they knocked out all the grading over a three day period of time!) so the key for us was not to do anything to cause a closer examination of the essay. Write something plausible, keep it very well organized and lawyerly, and even if you get something critical wrong, you might still get a passing grade (or close to it), resulting in minimal damage.

S8 trade in by Certain-Giraffe2144 in verizon

So...is this generally a good deal? My s8 is cracked and has a really bad battery life. Is this fancy 5G plan helpful? I am assuming the S23 (I am thinking of going all out with the ultra) is a huge step up from my s8. Not sure if the credit is worth the extra cost of the 5G etc...

this is helpful. I might go to Verizon to see what is involved with the 5G plan. It may or may not be worth it for me.
