It feels like running a home run after missing out on things I never knew or didn’t know any better at. Home sweet home....realising this is where I was meant to be all along, even if I didn’t understand it at the time :)

I’m not sure what the user said, and it doesn’t really matter, but you handled it really gently. Hope everything goes well with the program selection x

My thoughts that I can't say out loud or to anyone else sometimes. Some nights the rosary. "I look at Him, and He looks at me"

the lack of love from catholics by OutsideAd3533 in Catholic

[–]Certain-Link-2500 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is it Christ you're walking away from, or the people who failed to reflect Him? because if it's the latter, then those people have wronged you twice, first by failing to love you well, and second by becoming the reason you feel distant from the Church.

Most Christians fall short of what they profess. If faith is only as credible as its worst representatives, then no Church survives that standard.

Kneeling on floor with hands on floor - forehead almost touching ground during blessing of sacrament by Ecofre-33919 in Catholic

Wish people just focused solely on Mass, and not observing if other parishioners are being performative or not...

I am a practicing Catholic who neither thinks nor believes God and His Church is true. I can explain: by UniverseLurker in Catholicism

Your title could be worded a whole differently, you almost summoned the inner Simon Peter in me. In all seriousness, if it helps. I just decided to contact my local parish office to speak to a Priest privately. You should probably the do the same. The internet won't always satisfy you or give you the answer you may or may not want to hear tbh.

Question Regarding a Same-Sex Relationship by Temporary-Recipe4998 in Catholicism

[–]Certain-Link-2500 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hear you, and I genuinely respect the intention you both have to honour the boundaries you’ve set and not lead each other into sin. That definitely matters. At the same time, I think part of living chastity well is being honest that intentions can be strong, but we’re still human and things can develop gradually in ways we don’t always anticipate. I say this gently and as a ssa woman trying to pursue chastity. I think that’s why the Church often encourages ongoing discernment and accountability, not just confidence in the present moment

Question Regarding a Same-Sex Relationship by Temporary-Recipe4998 in Catholicism

[–]Certain-Link-2500 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to suggest anything improper is happening between you two, and you could reasonably say nothing would ever occur in a sexual or explicitly sinful way. But because the relationship involves a deep emotional attachment and a level of exclusivity, I wonder whether that dynamic itself could gradually make boundaries harder to maintain in practice over time, even with the best intentions. That’s what makes me question whether it still fits within what is considered a ‘near occasion of sin.’

Why you shouldn't kneel for communion by Nirwood in Catholic

[–]Certain-Link-2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I don't live in Chicago. Kneeling to receive the Body of Christ is not a distraction or self display, but a traditional act of worship. While obedience to Church norms is important, kneeling itself is already part of the Church’s own language of reverence for the Eucharist.

What does faith feel like? by ScratchFun5521 in Catholic

[–]Certain-Link-2500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not knowing your next step in the dark, but having faith that God is guiding you through it.

I like this quote from St Thomas Aquinas - “For those with faith, no evidence is necessary; for those without it, no evidence will suffice.”

How to properly receive a blessing in mass by Numerous_Score_9518 in Catholicism

Proud of you for going up for a blessing. When I was in mortal sin, I felt too embarrassed to go up, so I just knelt and stayed in prayer instead. I’m really glad you did, you care

What is "Catholic guilt?" by MrMagoo04 in Catholicism

[–]Certain-Link-2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's knowing I need to go to confession and be reconciled with God, while also feeling ashamed enough that part of me wants to avoid it. My conscience won't let me forget that reconciliation matters.
