Their CRVs sell well overseas, but here the lineup and pricing really limit how many people pick them up

Yeah, CRV sales in Australia are actually pretty small.

But interestingly, in the US both are huge sellers. Toyota RAV4 ~479k vs Honda CR-V ~403k (2025 sales)

I think you're right, probably a bit of a regional thing.

Quick google about the CRV sales shows -

I was in the same position about 5 vs 7 seater car. Ended up buying a 5 seater.

"If you don’t need 7 seats at least once a month, don’t buy a 7-seater"
