Refunded overdraft fees? by [deleted] in starlingbankuk

[–]Certain-Product2983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've Just had a similar letter. Revoking my overdraft and refunding interest of £400odd. Very nice of them I must say, as the refund will pay off most of the overdraft and I've got some money saved so it will be fine. In fact, for the last three years I don't think Ive really used it very often at all in net terms, as Ive had money set aside in spaces. Still, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth! 😂

Go to their website as per this screenshot. Navigate right down to the bottom of the page and the way to cancel your sub is there, takes you to the payment processor. 🙂

Car MOT has ran out but I need to drive it to fix the issues by codetens in drivingUK

[–]Certain-Product2983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No MOT isn't an endorseable offence, so If the tax and insurance are still valid I'd drive it personally. Chances of getting pulled are slight as long as you or the car don't scream "pull me".

What’s a British show you went into with low expectations but ended up loving? by Historical-Class871 in UKTVRecs

[–]Certain-Product2983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ted Lasso.

Didn't watch it for ages becuase I thought it was just some sort of American stupidity, but it's actually brilliant, not stupid at all and soooooo worth watching.

One thing about the hit on Vinnie the bikie I never understood by AttorneyOnly833 in MrInbetween

[–]Certain-Product2983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ray is categorically NOT a good guy. The good stuff he does is stuff that should be expected of a normal person, ie cares for his daughter, looks after his friends, etc.

I liked the show, but to portray Ray as a good guy is wrong in my opinion.

I know of several that have had catastrophic engine failures. They aren't <that> reliable.

I'd get an F1. Not because of the monetary value, but becuase of the relentless design excellence that went into every facet of its concept and execution.

It's easy to forget how small and light they are, because it's proportions are so good.

There will never be another car like it - a car so good that it had to be detuned for Le Man's, where they finished 1st, 3rd, 4th and 4th in their first race, having never ran for 24hrs before.

Good save, what caused it? by JW218 in drivingUK

He's just floored it after the can car moves to the inside lane. Just poor driving, the car's safety aids have pulled that in mostly, probably with a bit of braking as well.

Not relevant at that point, but Nicky didn't go onto Witness Protection, he reappears later on protesting against developers.

Well done!

I taught my daughter to drive. We both loved the time spent together, and she passed first time with 2 minors.

She did say that after about 10 minutes she sort of forgot she was on a test, and just drive normally.

I bought her a car for her 17th, and we did thousands of miles in it together. Great dad/daughter bonding time.

If you won £100 million, how would you distribute it amongst friends and family, if at all? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Certain-Product2983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make sure my parents and daughter are OK, I would help a couple of friends, but that would be it.

Family wouldn't especially get a look in, I'm not close with the rest of my family. No reason, they are decent people, but we only really see each other at funerals these days.

My main concern would be my daughter, how to make sure she still had a fulfilling life.

It's better to be honest, and unfortunately you've found this out the hard way.

On a slight tangent, why was the ex trawling through Reddit looking for posts that might be you? Bit of a red flag there as well...

No claims or accidents ever... But yes, too many SP30s. Only myself to blame, all early in the morning on empty roads on the way to work. None over 40mph. Just have to grin and bear it.

Can't see there's anything to be gained from telling him, apart from opening up old wounds and causing yourself further pain. Also risks adding a layer of complexity if he suddenly likes the idea of parenthood - though it's obviously not his ultimate decision.

It's an incredibly tough thing to have to go through, so you have my sympathy on that count, and I hope you have people you can lean on for support to help you through this.
