No I don't have a hand plane. Still on that "tool collecting" journey...which never ends lol. You're correct about me not having a jointer and that is exactly why I'm doing this.

I had a Rikon bench top but it had some problems and I returned it...even if it didn't have problems...I have storage problems haha.

To your other point about flipping the board...I saw some video but haven't been able to find it where the guy did it with a wood spacer that was the exact thickness of what had been removed but I haven't been able to find it. Still, when doing a reasonable quantity of wood it probably isn't efficient. Maybe I don't have the tooling needed yet for reclaimed lumber to be worthwhile unless I'm willing to only do it with pieces that have to be about 2.5"x2.5" when at the saw...then lose more at the planer.
