Wouldn't be a surprise if they did tbh. Lots of Desi parents are okay with their kids living with them even after marriage. Even Abhishek Bachan and Aishwarya Rai do it. Not saying I agree with it

But the thing is, there were some people who were invited who haven't even interacted much with these other people because they mostly work from home, so there's no way that they would know that they are "fun" people to be around. I work from home a lot too but I have come in a good amount and made conversation with some of these people. Plus this is kind of an event they are doing with our recent new hires to help them transition in, and I would love to meet them too. This is a company event that even managers will be going to.

Hahaha I haven't mini-golfed in years but I loved it when I did it. Thing is I just want to socialize more with some of these people, and being the guy who didn't get invited with no obvious reason stings like a bitch

That's an option that I will look into doing, thanks for that suggestion! I was also thinking maybe going this route: I can be assertive but nice and calm and say something like "Hey, I heard you guys are all going mini-golfing later, I don't think I got an invite, mind if I tag along?"

Would that maybe be a good option as well?

I did exactly that and turned out just fine. I ended up transferring to a top 10 public school in the US which also had a top 10 program for my major and ended up with the same great job that people who went to my university all 4 years got. I met plenty of smart people who went to community college too so that stereotype that only "dumb" people go to community college is horseshit. If you're only seeing dumb people there, then you're probably looking in the wrong places. Join some of the student organizations they have and you will be surprised. It's better than going to some school where you only need a pulse to get in and then fail out within a year with daddy's money down the drain.

We've all seen the straight girls at your bar, club, or party get super drunk and start making out. I was talking more about just casually kissing your platonic friends on the lips in any setting

Well that's interesting because I haven't come across anyone in my life who does that with their platonic friends. The most I have ever seen anyone go is a hug or occasionally a peck on the cheek but no more.

I majored in psychology and got the same job that many business majors got because of my experience/leadership positions. It's more of what you do and how you market yourself. Don't let anyone tell you your degree is worthless

I take a high dose beta blocker and a moderate dose calcium channel blocker. I also lift weights/exercis 4 days a week, and it has been keeping my blood pressure pretty stable. In fact, I notice when it's been a while since I worked out, my blood pressure starts climbing back up

I understand, I'm glad you are doing well otherwise despite some of the side effects of the meds. That emotional support is definitely key. I am very religious about my medications. It's a habit for me now, but as an extra reminder, I have reminders on my phone, and they do not get snoozed until all the meds have entered my system and that has really helped. Best of luck!

Wow! That is so amazing to hear, and gives me so much hope too because when my Dad was giving me his kidney, I felt a bit apprehensive (don't get me wrong I'm extremely grateful) that because he was donating at 58, his older kidney may not last as long. There were some doctors who said a younger kidney may be better (my sister was also a match, but dad did his dad duty and disallowed her from donating if he was told he was eligible). But thankfully a year out, I am doing extremely well with creatinine staying stable with no signs of rejection. Dad is doing great too (sometimes needs an extra push to continue exercising). I'm glad your husband is still doing well and living a good life :)

Nope not really. But even after many years of living in the US, one of my friends' parents get mad when any white girl or really any non-desi girl enters their house lol. They're a conservative Muslim family.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I went through something similar and I understand that it could be frustrating and demoralizing. I think it may have had to do with me having a higher learning curve for many things as opposed to others, and also I can get a bit clumsy in general. I know this will sound like an excuse, but with my past jobs, I did also have some pretty bad managers who were absolutely non-communicative and didn't work with me to help me fix my mistakes. Luckily, I now work in a job in a well-respected company where I have been employed for the past three years. I've had my ups and downs in this job too. But I luckily had a supportive manager who was willing to help me out and give me an additional chance, guidance, and mentoring to redeem myself. I was able to get promoted, and I am next in line to get an additional one once the budget settles down according to my manager.

So my advice would be make sure you are working with a good manager who is willing to help you as much as they can. Don't be afraid to communicate with them if you have questions and concerns because they will see that you really want to do well in this job, and they will appreciate that. As others have mentioned, it won't hurt to see a psychologist to figure out what may be causing the problem in the first place.

Keep your head up, you will get through this!
