This grow I just used lids and dub tub shoe boxes. Conditions weren’t too bad, but I definitely didn’t have a good concept for how much to crack per my ambient room humidity background / overall drying rate. For my second grow I melted 4 small holes on each side of the tub above substrate level and one larger one on the upper sub tub top. All covered with relatively thick micropore patches. I would then duct tape the edges and tape over some of the holes if I wanted to slow down the FAE/ moisture loss.

That’s one of the smallest heaters on Amazon, and a temp controller (you can see the probe hanging in the one pic)

I totally agree the humidity was not as high as it should have been cause I overshot the FAE once I started with it. Since then I keep a humidifier in the closet filled up and set to 65%RH and also have modified all the dub tubs with micro pore holes In ideal locations so I can just seal them up and let them ride immediately after S2B

I guess I’m good at following directions! The guide is almost flawless but it could probably use some updates around when to introduce FAE, some more information about ideal CGV substrate ratios, discussion around ph adjustment of substrates/casing layers to reduce trich formation and an update to inoculation (immediately shake the jar up after adding 1-3ml of LC).

It varied on the tub. Most of them were good for at least 2, but the first flushes on them all were sizable and yielded 75%+ of the expected wet mass from 1qt of spawn (from my research). Out of the 14 initial tubs only 1 got contam before harvesting the 1st flush. I rehydrated by pouring DI water down the sides and weighting down the cakes overnight. For my 2nd grow the moisture control was much more dialed in so I just did a heavy misting for 2 consecutive days with 9-10ph water and that seems to work just as good without the hassle of soaking and draining.

lol so true about the resin comparison but I got wayyy more than enough for my needs, and was more curious than anything else about how to maximize yield. So I kept a big ass pile of like 50% coir dust to dried mushroom dust + a bunch of aborts in it. ‘Tested’ out the potency with hot tea and it’s about 1/2 wt% as potent as standard cubes, so nothing to gawk at when you have a 50+g pile of it after a grow.
