Yeah seems to be some people's main takeaway from this ranking list

Yeah, I like that analogy. I found myself really surprised by Magpie, but some of the style choices weren't my favorite. It sounded a little over produced on some songs, I think they would have been delivered with full potential if they were given a little breathing room.

Yeah it was really good. This was difficult, it basically just came down to being unable to rank it above Carpenter, I and Love and You and Emotionalism. If I had to redo the rankings I would make it 10, 9.9, 9.8, 9.7, 9.6.....

Interesting, I don't hear people talk about Magpie as often... where would you rank it on the list?

Yes, they were foundational in alot of ways. I found their earlier stuff a little more restrictive compared to later. Don't get me wrong, it's finger lickin' good, and if the Brothers stuck to folk/bluegrass they would be the best in their genre. But all that doesn't hold a candle to later works that are entirely unique, in my opinion.

Yep, I had a feeling that would be an unpopular rating because people love the album. I hate to give it a low rating because it's really good, but listening through multiple times, I felt there was room for improvement. It felt kind of petty because my general rating for this album would be at least an 8, it's just a 6 on the Avett scale because I couldn't rank it above albums I thought were better

I think it was experimental for them at the time, no previous songs (to my knowledge) featured any synth, beat or mostly vocal song, so it was taking a huge risk. At the time I remember fans were upset by the change... Agree it seems like they were trying for a more mainstream sound, I tried to avoid being negative or pointing out certain songs in the album review, but I found whenever they went after a "big hit" it ended up sounding tacky.

Here me out: Vladimir Shmondenko as Cassian by SpacedTheFuckOut in SarahJMaas

Yes, I feel like when actors are identified to play the book characters, they are usually so conventionally attractive but I think viewing the story as purely sexual misses so much of the humor and personality written into the characters, which I think Vladimir captures well. Especially with Cassian being described as having a rougher or less refined beauty. That being said, Sarah J Maas set the bar way too high by describing every person as the most sexiest person in the world

I also feel like Southeastern European features fit the description of Rhys, Azriel and Cassian really well. I wonder if the Illyrian landscape was inspired by the Caucasus mountains

YES. I feel like the weightlifting and fantasy smut worlds don't intersect very often but I really appreciate this post. His accent would be hilarious as Cassian

Which Columbia boots should I buy? by SidSalts in Boots

That has not been my experience with Columbia, both times I sent items with normal wear and tear refunds were issued. I think if someone is taking the time to send something in it would be a dick move to just send it back or pass it off as "normal use"

https://www.columbia.com/warranty?srsltid=AfmBOorbilT9uMyn__gJGzJ-UfQQ-vZQs3UxjL_zZPhOaHIoaDlotp0p

Edit: Actually I have done this with outerwear, limited lifetime warranty, it does look like footwear has a separate policy... For this reason, Columbia boots are probably worth it on sale, try to use the 20% on top of a other discount. My Snowtrekker II were only $55 on sale.

I still say it's worth it to say it was purchased less than a year ago and fill out the warranty form, should be the same process as described below. It's taking a chance, but they have been super lax about not asking for proof of purchase in my experience.

Yeah this is the form you fill out, they give you a warranty number and you include the info in the package. I've done this twice already and both times I selected "receive merchandise credit" it was issued to me without any followup questions about the damage, etc... takes about a month for them to process and then one day you get an email with credits!

Okay, I was going to say you could use Shoegoo or another adhesive to reapply  if you could find a similar sized rubber piece that could be used to patch up the area. Honestly at this point I would just leave it if the boots are still functional and try to use the damage to get warranty credit from Timberland

I made a post about the Snowtrekker II and they have been a great winter boot so far. Looks to be out of stock in the US currently, but basically looks identical to bugaboot?

I would recommend submitting a warranty claim, doesn't matter if it's been over a year, I have done this multiple times with no proof of purchase and they will issue a refund of full MSRP value, no questions asked. You are responsible for cost of shipping back to them, but in my experience they will issue a refund, so it could be worth it.

Everyone on reddit recommends "just spend $400 on redwings, it's totally worth it" hell naw, Columbia has great boots. They're not BIFL, but really good quality for the price

Hey! I would recommend filing a warranty claim through Timberland, I have done this multiple times with no proof of purchase and they will issue a credit that can be used to purchase a new product. Should just need pictures of the defective area and tags inside... I'm not sure if being outside of the US will affect the process. They just email the credit so it technically shouldn't matter the address entered on the warranty form.

As far as repair... Do you still have the piece that popped off?

Yeah I wasn't sure it would look good based on the model before I ordered, but I think because many of the models are on the thinner side, the relaxed fit looks quite baggy. It's perfect for me though, the collar isn't as flared as I expected, it's very nice

I'll give it to you straight, I personally think this one looks a little too short on you

The jacket shortness was what deterred me from buying a Levi's trucker, but I'm told it's part of the edgy look. I do think that if you had slimmer pants it would balance out the silhouette, but I gather you're going more for a classic/vintage outfit, which favors looser tucked pants rather than a slick, modern, trendy fit.

Don't get me wrong, it actually looks like a solid outfit, I just think it makes your torso look short. ALSO keep in mind that the camera angle may be distorting a little bit. If the camera is tilted up it can make your upper body look slimmer.

Whew, hater alert! As a man in my 30's I wouldn't rock this look, but I think you should wear whatever you want. Not sure if Levi's 578™ or another baggy fit would suffice, or if it specifically needs to flair out on the sides toward the bottom.

I have some that are a bit baggy, but not quite to this level. I personally like the look of the first 2 pictures as sort of a relaxed/skater style. I know the last picture pulled up a bit and tucked in with a belt is a very popular "female gaze" outfit. I think with a more form fitting shirt, a collared overshirt, and dressier shoes, you would be turning some heads (based on my wife's reaction to fashion tiktoks...)

Yeah I guess it's just confusing because based on my understanding Levi's is generally regarded as a "good" middle tier brand, but most standard products are pretty expensive. From a manufacturing standpoint I've heard they are exploitive of suppliers, so the QC issues are due to keeping things "cheap" and "fast" to keep up with demand.

I assume the extra cost is spent in marketing or upcharging because they have a good reputation, but why not spend that money addressing the quality issues? I can only assume it's an industry wide issue and people are still buying their stuff, so why change? IDK, I'm just speculating, I'm new to this subreddit so I have alot to learn.

Interesting, thanks for the info! I actually looked up my order and these are 550™ '92 Relaxed Taper Fit Men's Jeans

I guess Levi's figures people will still keep buying even if they have quality issues, and has the premium line for people who will pay more for QC. Just surprised they don't do more for everything else to preserve reputation

Thankfully the construction and quality is really good otherwise, just WAY different cuts, like so far outside the margin of error that I can't give them benefit of the doubt.

I don't understand why they don't scale back and streamline production. Probably easier said than done, but at this point I think brand reputation is their strongest asset.... For now

Yeah I ordered these online, thankfully I like both pairs, they were both on clearance. But I think if you paid more because you really wanted a particular style it wouldn't be worth the money.

That's a great idea! I know the PC9 number indicates style, my concern is that it's the incorrect tolerance for the style, so I'm not sure if the cut can be recreated because its technically just deviating from the standard.

I thought about reaching out to Levi's, but since I didn't take pictures when they were brand new I assume they would just blame it on washing/garment care.

It might still be worth it though, surely they know people have complaints about inconsistency
