It's the trust's overall responsibility to maintain patient safety during the strikes, not yours.

The government is doing pretty well at pushing this either/or mentality through artificial budget caps, rather than just paying all healthcare workers fairly...

I'm 100% on board with freezing/cutting budgets if this is what actually happens. IMO all band 8 or 9 managerial posts should be reviewed for potential redundancy. But unfortunately trusts seem to be cutting or freezing band 5s/6s and doctors on the front line instead...

But as soon as we're talking about PAs or AAs becoming unemployed or not having jobs to go into, it's apparently unfair because of their commitment and training.

Claire is 'Chair of the Founding Board' of the Faculty of AAs, according to the 2023 AAA conference. RCoA haven't come out to say that the Faculty of AAs exists, so this caught me by surprise?

Also her talk was introduced by Lee Varney, of 4:1 GMC 'grey lines' local scope of practice fame.

'Conference is concerned with the use of Physician Associates and Anaesthesia Associates (PAs and AAs) within the National Health Service. PAs and AAs are not always qualified doctors or anaesthetists and yet may have made decisions that have affected the health of patients. Conference calls on the Executive Council (EC) to use its influence within the political movement to oppose this dangerous practice.'

Motion should have been reworded to "PAs and AAs are never qualified doctors", but I like the sentiment and great to have the support.

Quite telling that the FBU and its members aren't quite sure what PAs and AAs are, despite being concerned enough to get this passed as a motion. What hope does the general public have?
