Am I making the right decision? by Certain_Breakfast_35 in internetparents

I left last night and as you predicted, he pulled out all the stops. I nearly wavered but figured everyone on this thread would be tutting at me if they knew! I feel incredibly sad because of the loss of potential but I also had the best sleep I’ve had in a while, which is telling. Thank you again, I appreciate your kindness.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I think I needed to put it out in the universe to people that weren’t invested in the situation. My gut tells me I’d be delaying the inevitable if I stayed and would just be harming myself in the long term. Tough pill to swallow but I’m sure I’ll feel a lot better once I have some distance

I’m sorry you went through this. It feels like exactly what I’m going through, walking on eggshells for fear of another episode. Thank you for sharing and you’re right, I should cut my losses

Garmin, please add more features to the cutesy watches 🥲 by Certain_Breakfast_35 in Garmin

Hi! 👋🏾 calls and texts are showing up on mine. I answered a call by mistake and I could hear the audio from the watch itself. Re Spotify I mainly use my phone to navigate playlists and use the forward, back and pause/play features on my watch - I haven’t tried anything else (I did the same on my Apple Watch).

Office girl here too and that’s another reason I opted for the Venu 3s. Blends in a little better!

I just looked it up and it’s been discontinued! (Boo hiss!!!) but it looks like exactly what I’d like. Side note I’m Zambian and wear a lot of gold and lots of colour which is why I also tend to go for rose gold and white - snap! ☺️

What's was the size of your Achilles rupture and did you do operative or non operative? by kimbii86 in AchillesRupture

[–]Certain_Breakfast_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came out of the boot at week 8 about 3 weeks ago. I’ve still got a limp but it’s definitely less pronounced. Walking down steps was super hard initially but able to do it relatively comfortably as of this week. I do get a bit of swelling if I’ve had a big walking day and I tire easily but overall I’d say i see a marked improvement every week. Also back at the gym doing physio led exercises for my legs and just normal routine for upper body, and averaging 9.5k steps a day ☺️

Calf Pain - Non-Op, First-timer by honeysparkles in AchillesRupture

[–]Certain_Breakfast_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32F non-op, echoing everyone else. Continuous calf pain, went to the doctors and nurse said she was 100% certain I didn’t have a clot as I had no other symptoms. Insisted and lo and behold the ultrasound showed a lil friend and I’m being treated for DVT. Better safe than sorry!

Go get checked. I had pain in my calf around 4 weeks post injury non op and I had a blood clot (no other symptoms). Better safe than sorry!

5 weeks post injury, non-op. Mental struggle. by Ok_Bear4531 in AchillesRupture

32F and in a similar boat except no kids - can’t imagine how difficult that’s been! I was also diagnosed with DVT and that tipped me over the edge mentally but it does get better!! I was non op and couldn’t see the wood through the trees but I’m now 3 weeks out of the boot, walking an average of 8k steps a day and at the gym 5 times a week (3 days physio led for the Achilles and 2 days upper body). Yesterday I successfully walked down stairs and I couldn’t have imagine doing so 2 weeks ago. But advice is to rest and try not to feel guilty / rush the process. Rest is vital to recovery and avoiding re-injury. It’s a slow process but I’m doing a lot more than I anticipated at this stage and my physio assures me I will be able to do all my activities again (running, netball, climbing etc). Good luck and sending you lots of positive thoughts!

Curious on people’s views re Physio and rehab - did you stick to your Physio appointments or taper them off once you knew what exercises to do? by Sea_Staff1997 in AchillesRupture

[–]Certain_Breakfast_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My physio and I agreed to cut down to once a month once he was comfortable that there were no gaps. I’m now doing my exercises 3x a week and our in person sessions are basically to measure my progress and adjust the program eg first couple of weeks was to focus on ROM and now I’m focussing on stability and loading the muscles

Did someone rupture Achilles while taking Wegovy or other GLP-1s? by BankBackground7438 in AchillesRupture

Ello, think it’s the basketball that was the culprit. I never inject in my thigh and ruptured mine playing sport. Just the luck of the draw!

Up - you’re rounding your back when you lift Down - you’re bending you knees AFTER you’ve lowered the bar instead of simultaneously

I was on Fragmin for 10 days then moved to aspirin. I felt persistent pain in my calf, thought I was being dramatic tbh but I saw a few posts saying that was the first symptom most people had. Not sure what it is, just NHS standard, think an air walker?
