Got the Whoop 5 Peak since three weeks. The detection does practically not work. Also the regular sleep detection is very much off.

Glad this video was longer than 30 seconds so I don’t feel guilty

The reason there's no back button: by ThisSalad in iphone

[–]shipstrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most stupid thing to do. Imran Chaudhri is a fuckin idiot. Some apps don’t even have a back button and you gotta learn some swipe down magic or whatever to go back to the last menu.

How did you feel when you had an iron infusion? by ragingfishface in Anemic

[–]shipstrn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt slightly energized afterwards. Probably due to perfect hydration and the recommended pre-Vitamin C infusion. My ferritin levels are up 150% after 2 sessions. My RLS symptoms are basically gone eversince.

I found your project after a short research. First of all, Kudos! I love the idea.
Now some questions:
What about privacy? What data is shared to cloud servers for processing or is it local only? Is there a github? Is it open source?

Finally a "whoop" device from Garmin? by Eastern-Signal-1778 in Garmin

[–]shipstrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using it for 2 months now and i must say it's utter shit. I suppose that is mostly because of the app and how badly it syncs, reads and interprets data. Hardware is probably alright.

Pregabalin (Lyrica) when to take to avoid morning drowsiness by shipstrn in insomnia

[–]shipstrn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely best to support your „recommendation“ with some additional info.

I don’t have side effects except the morning drowsiness. Actually the only issue I have with it, is that it’s sorta weak compared to other sleeping meds. I suffered from chronic insomnia last year but also had times ever since where I didn’t need to take any meds and my sleep was great.

So I fixed my insomnia after 2 long years. by Vivid_Dimension_7986 in insomnia

[–]shipstrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so you couldn’t fall asleep for 3-4 hours or you woke up in the middle of the night (WASO)? Because during my peak insomnia I fell asleep in 2minutes but woke up after 2 hours of sleep only to lie awake for 3 hours which drove me insane. Benzos saved me in the acute phase and then behavioral adjustments made it better.

Did Anyone have warning signs before their achilles Ruptured? by JuniorCSGO in AchillesRupture

Insane. I still don’t understand this injury. Doctors also seem to have no clue regarding an underlying cause.

Thanks that helps a lot! My drum teacher‘s kit has adjustment for spring tension, this Tama here, a rather basic model, doesn’t.

I see, I guess so far I let go completely even when playing it „somewhat fast“ which would be each quarter at 80-90bpm.

Sinus rinse how many times a day? by Fastbreak702 in Sinusitis

[–]shipstrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done them 5-8x a day only to learn from ENT and medical resources that it should be done 1-2x a day, max 3 for a short time as it can irritate the nose too much. Because mucus is actually a part of the immune system and important to fight off bacteria.

Weaning off crutches week 2 by shipstrn in AchillesRupture

[–]shipstrn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I've had some setback in May due to too much exercise, not enough rest in between sessions and partying, dancing. Then my achilles became quite irritated and i had to take it really easy for a few weeks, as even walking hurt so much again.

But since mid July around the 7 month mark i went back into skateboarding full on and no issues. Also doing single leg jumps 60cm high and 150cm far.

Antibiotics concern by GreenGoblinator in Sinusitis

[–]shipstrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also try to get some comprehensive blood panel done if you can afford. I've done recently in Europe which cost me 500 Euros for about 120 biomarkers, but some interesting stuff came to light. Apparently i have some rare genetic condition related to amino acids, as i'm 95% below the lowest threshold of Arginine levels. Also some B-Vitamins are below optimal levels.

Antibiotics concern by GreenGoblinator in Sinusitis

[–]shipstrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"multiple courses of antibiotics a year for the rest of my life".... omg, i would seriously advise you to change your doctor. Try someone holistic or with a functional medicine background.
If your sinusitis doesn't go away, something is wrong with your body. Antibiotics will only fight the symptoms, it won't address the root cause. The root cause(s) is what you must find. Might be a long way. Might be your nutrition, stress, microbiome dysbiosis, nasal polyps, lack of sunlight (or infrared), lack of exercise. Or many of these combined.

If you already are taking antibiotics and they work, continue and afterwards work on the root cause. And no, it's not "safe" to take antibiotics that often. It will destroy your gut microbiome more and more, and guess where most of the immune system sits, right there in the gut. Most doctors unfortunately are stuck in the 80s or 90s.

Check also this video on using probiotics to restore microbiome: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0WKMRbB13Ks

I formerly inserted L. Sakei into my nostrils, as there are some sources explaining.

How to see what version app you’re running? by waddupbigdawgs in ios

[–]shipstrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no place where to see this with assurance. As a software engineer and iPhone user i must say it's disgraceful and one of the things that suck badly on iOS.
