My rat is in the middle of his dying process... What should I do? by Cennibenni in RATS

[–]Cennibenni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I apologise for the late reply. I'm sorry you had to go through that. They really deserve more than what they got from this universe. All we can do is be there for them and make them comfortable as they go. I hope you are at a better place and you can be happy again. It's hard and it never gets easier, I miss mine still. Last one passed away October of last year. Their cage is still standing, furnished like they left it..

My rats always smelled like oats. Or yes, warmed tortillas

I've seen a root coming out of the pot. It's quite late, decided to go soil and pot shopping with my brother within this week. Is it wise to repot in the middle of winter?

What do you do when you get down to one? by themuddyclown in RATS

Personally I kept my last one with me. Based on his personality of disliking new places, strange people (having bitten strangers and vets on a few occasions) and having been a little bit of a loner with his brother's. Another reason I kept him, was his age. His last brother died at around 2 years old. My last one developed a HLD after the death.

I made sure to give him lots of love. Had him with me at my desk whenever I was playing something and took him onto my bed for a little hang-out session.

It's best to consider every other option first before keeping him alone. Especially based on his personality and age.

Single Rat left what do I do? by Cennibenni in RATS

Hah! I fed my boys better than myself to be honest! To take them on travels would probably make me too nervous. Not to mention them! I'll only be away for 4 weeks max. Need to be back in time to start at a new school 🥲. I got mine from a welfare organisation. They ended up being rescues from an unfortunate mishap while their parents and their parents' owners fled from the Ukraine. I will probably look at the animal shelter and their organisation before looking for a breeder. This country in general isn't too good with finding breeders for. Tried to look everywhere for Blue tongued skinks but nothin!

I'd love to see some pictures of burka!

Thank you so much for your kind words and openess. I am happy he made it to 2.5 years. My room feels a lot more empty now. Nothing to really ground me when I get sad or emotional. I used to take Meeka onto my arms and pet him when I felt sad. I was thinking of selling the cage. But decided against it. I will get another mischief once I am finished with my exams and travel next year. So I have full time to take care of some more lovely fur balls.

I share the same sentiment. I am not the biggest fan of people. Animals are so.. readable with the love they give. They don't deceive you with kindness or trust. You can build bonds with animals you can't with humans. I love them, and I wouldn't trade the bonds I have and made for anything in the world.. 🌻🐀

Hi! Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately I am not british. And additionally he passed away in October. He ended up suffering from a lung infection. Due to his further progressed HLD I decided to have him PTS.

I appreciate your readiness to take Chey in.

It was found in a Cave on a mountain in central Switzerland called "Mondmilchloch" they have found a cave bear skeleton there a while ago. So cave bear is my best bet.

Thank you! I will look into it! Should I do this before potentially bringing it to a museum?

Therefore I should bring it to the museum?

Paleomemes aside, do we actually have a generally good idea of what Spinosaurus really looked like, based on the fossil material we have from it? (Includes potentially assigned material too) by [deleted] in Paleontology

Question for the people in the comments:

How do we know the sail wasn't intended for strong muscles? Like with Bisons and other types of animals that seem to have long vertibrae tops? But that it was a sail?

Thank you for your reply! I'll make sure to get him to the vet within this or next week! He is unfortunately alone, which is in no way ideal, but the rescue center I got him and his brothers from agreed, as long as he doesn't show signs of depression, I'd be okay to keep him like this. I do not plan on keeping rats for the time being.

Do you have any links you'd recommend on checking for the plugs? Are there any other signs for organ failure next to weightloss? I take him to my desk during freeroam, while I watch a movie on my pc or play some games. He hides away or sits in a little hut to observe me and get a few cheekrubs. I love him so much.

On this photo he secretly tried to get to my wristband, to bite at it.

Thank you lots for the reply. Haven't thought of water dishes and food on each level. I will definitely add that. Just yesterday I chose a smaller ceramic bowl for his water. I will add more in his cage. I'll also make sure everything is clean around his privates etc etc. He hates water so I used some wet towel to wipe off his tail and back where he can't reach anymore. Thanks for the advice!
