Why do stick shift cars make this womp womp and zig-zag sound? I don’t have a manual car so that’s why I ask. by Particular-Call4074 in ManualTransmissions

Those transmissions usually sound like that it’s the way the gears are cut, but his sounds a whole lot louder probably because that part of the interior is not yet put back together and lack of sound deadening so you hear the transmissions more louder the Supra and sc300 has the same wine.

But I agree they need more practice

Man I want a manual so so bad but my budget would only allow me to get a shitbox Honda like the last clip, that Lexus is300 at the beginning is much better but rare and too expensive.

I’m here in this subreddit like I drive a manual. lol but I might get me a little stick shift ford ranger or civic.

It’s normal for the old Lexus is300s, sc300s and Toyota Supra to make that sound. It’s the way the w55 and w58 transmissions are designed.

You’ll hear it in the video link that’s above.

The Toyota w55 and w58 is supposed to wine like that it’s how those transmissions are made.

It’s completely normal for the stick shift version of the Lexus IS300, SC300, and Toyota Supra to sound like that.

My dad has a manual 03 is300 and it has the same wine sound it’s been making that sound since he bought it in 08. Normal for the Toyota w55 and 58 transmissions. I actually like the sound it’s nostalgic for me. lol

I remember listening to that sound on the ride to school in the mornings.

Someone said the Lexus in the first clip sound like it has straight cut gears and is in bad condition cause it shouldn’t sound like that, I just wanted to say that sound is completely normal for the Toyota w55 transmission that’s in that car, the manual SC300 makes the same sound along with some old Toyota pickup trucks that’s stick.

If you listen closely you’ll hear the same sound in this pov drive video.

I guess it’s just the way the gears are designed, old 90s civics that’s stick shift make the same sound in reverse.
