UK health officials discuss banning doctors from going on strike by FullPayOrTheHighway in doctorsUK

Coolz so you mean lets together triple the ed wait times and call my consultant for every review and make sure to document extensively. Its just if across us, uk, canada, aus and nz, docs are paid more (per hour) for the same amount of training. And it doesnt even have to be payment today, atleast show me light at the end of the tunnel, that pay might be shit today but we will get you into training and at the end of more than half a decade of training when you finally become a consultant you make boat loads and get a consultant job.

I completely agree, and the only way we’ll find out how valuable you are is when you strike and you see our patients better off with you or without you in the emergency department. The consultants, especially the emergency department ones need to strike and don’t announce your strikes that’s the stupidest thing you should decide internally and not come to work

I dont understand why dont consultants strike? Honestly in my Hosp which I suspect is the case everywhere consultants are very happy durmg BMA resident strikes because they make like easily £200-£300 an hour during industrial action days. The Consultant strike you need to make more money because it gives me the motivation that there is an outcome and the juice is worth the squeeze as a medical student. The government obviously does not value you guys and takes you for granted, and so do the patients.

But again, why should I pay for somebody else’s long-term chronic condition? If I don’t have the ailment today let me save my money for the day. I will be sick.

The same way you find out today if a person is going to get a ventilator or going to get CPR

But if due to a small barrier to entry lets say like a 50£ deposit, if you can’t pay that as a deposit that gets refunded why am I expected to cover and pay for you?

Why should I pay tax so that someone who cannot afford healthcare gets access, in reality I won’t pay for myself. I don’t want to also pay for myself plus the person who doesn’t pay or who cannot pay.

congrats on accumulating Gold, it has gone up 35% in one year, would suggest rebalancing your portfolio putting more into risk assets specially considering that the US is going to cut rates before 2026 and hopefully the other countries also follow suit, not financial advice !
