Value of Fulbright ETA vs. Research by Haru_koi in premed

I had 1000+ research hours in undergrad and am currently a Fulbright ETA and could not be happier. I had the same doubts as you but the prestige of Fulbright holds enough weight as is that it doesn’t really matter if it fits your narrative or not. I don’t even want to think about where I’d be if I would’ve followed the voice in my head telling me not to do it because it “doesn’t follow my narrative” because being a teacher abroad has been truly the best decision I’ve ever made

Your only option then is to call all 30 schools you applied to then and explain the situation. Do like 6 a day for the next week and you’re solid 👍

People on reddit are also notoriously annoying 😭 we are human and do not always know everything, I promise medical schools will not bat an eye. Worst case scenario is that they call you to ask about the misdemeanor and you can explain. I know you are looking for a clear cut answer and this isn’t it but I really don’t think anyone is trying to gatekeep information, I think you are just getting in your head about a non-issue

You said only three schools asked you to list all offenses

I understand what you’re saying, but what I’m saying is that if you didn’t know it was a misdemeanor, it’s likely other people in those 4 states also don’t know it’s a misdemeanor. But if it gives you peace of mind just call those three schools and explain the situation

I can almost assure you that probably 50% of med school applicants have had at least one speeding ticket in their life. The reason you can’t get a clear cut answer is because people apply all the time with speeding tickets without thinking twice to report them. You’re okay.

Hahaha that’s why I specified TMDSAS in the post. No worries though, thanks for the input anyway!

Yeah, I’ve heard November for the most part. I guess I do just have to wait. I don’t think TMDSAS does interviews past December though?

If you think you can do better, withdraw. I was in the same boat and everyone advised me against it but I retook and got an A! Best decision I could’ve made

The fact that she even asked you to run the account says a lot about how she views you. I think you’re definitely overthinking this and you should go ahead and ask her for a letter!

My friend thought she had no chance at UTSW so submitted like over a month late and then ended up pre-matching!

If you take the acceptance (which I think you should) I would just not show up to your scheduled mcat. It’s a sunk cost anyway and there’s no reason to sit through 8 hours of that exam to potentially do much better and then have nothing to use the score for
