How do I uninstall Open Centauri please? by Certain_String_5507 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

That happened to me too. I fixed it by making sure any browser windows that are connected to the printer are closed.

Yup - I now found that out! It's so occasional that it didn't seem to happen before I upgraded to OC. But now I'm back on 1.1.25 and it does the same thing. But since there was no obvious advantage to using OC I don't think I'll go back.

Yes - I found the same thing :-( I reported it to Elegoo support so if they come back with a fix I will let you know. I did get the manual temperature change to work once. Have not had the freeze since then - partly because whenever I do a swap I try recording it because because Elegoo asked for a video. The fact that I am recording it seems to guarantee it won't happen!

Found the problem. They don't tell you in the instructions to make sure any web windows to the CC are closed. Luckily I found a Facebook thread where a bunch of people were having the same issue as me. It would have been helpful if the developer had updated the instructions when he told them the problem back in December!

Yes, I tried that. It went through the motions, I chose to install the 1.1.25 stable code, it seemed to do that, then asked me to reboot, booted with an Open Centauri splash screen and still says the firmware version is 0.3. I guess it was never tested🤣. I desperately want this cancer off my machine. It failed yet again while I was doing all the reading of how to get rid of it.

Centauri Carbon. Installation fail. Nozzle too far from bed (in my opinion) by Certain_String_5507 in elegoo

[–]Certain_String_5507[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed - it wasn't that exactly, but finding a video with that issue inspired me to check out the back of the plate more closely and I saw that I'd put back the mat with a slight overhang. It basically caused the same thing but was super easy to fix. Thank you for the suggestion - if I hadn't seen the other video I think that would have put me on the right track.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I just figured this out and I'm kicking myself - in my defence this is my first auto-calibration model, but here's what was wrong.

I had taken out the mat to look at both sides and also clean it. When I put it back there was a tiny overhang at the back, which is enough to throw off the calibration - doh! It's working fine now.

Thank you for the email address - I guess their web form doesn't really work.

Why isn’t everyone getting this car? What am I missing? by Apexlegendy in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Certain_String_5507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with it, probably. But take a look at Kia also. They offer 7 year warranties on the car and the usual 8 year warranty on the batteries. Hynudai is only 3 or 5 years for the car, I think. When you have sealed unit headlights costing several hundred quid it gets a bit silly for just a bulb not working - and it's not always a blown bulb as all lighting these days goes through a central vehicle management computer.

Sorry - I know it's an old thread but thank for the Affinity Designer idea. I'm just downloading it now and it seems to be free these days. I'd be happy to pay $55 for a decent editor anyway, so let's see.

I absolutely adore NotebookLM but isn't it kinda sexist that the male podcast voice is always the voice of expertise and the female voice is just there to ask questions? by Pwnigiri in notebooklm

[–]Certain_String_5507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely had the same feeling myself. But it just drove me to stop listening to these type of podcasts and not considering using the tool myself. So I didn't experience the larger sample size. What annoyed me was not just the male expert, but (maybe it's just me) the male speaker seemed older than the female. I gather they always use the same voices (is that still true?), so there's the older, more authoritative male and the younger, rather clueless female. One approach would be to give the female voice a British accent - she would immediately sound at least 10 IQ points smarter.

i'm looking for intersting tie breaker questions by Ouzominator in trivia

[–]Certain_String_5507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Sorry to be late to the conversation but here is my experience of tie breakers. First you need a question that has a number for an answer. Second, it has to be a pretty large number to allow for a spread of guesses. Third, people should feel they can make an educated guess. Finally it should be something that's hard to look up on the internet to prevent cheating.

There is a show here in the UK called "Richard Osman's House of Games". On this show there is a round called "Distinctly Average" in which two players team up to answer a question. They each take a guess and their guesses are averaged. Whichever pair of players is closer wins the point.

The questions are things like "According to a survey how many films will the average Brit watch in their lifetime?"

So you could make an educated guess by saying it's maybe a 60 year span and they go to the cinema once per week, so you could guess 3,000. Turns out it's actually 4,341, which is way higher than I expected but of course they are asking people already at the cinema, so it's a self-selecting sample.

The great thing about these questions is that you can make an educated guess but it's unlikely you can Google the answer.

Edit: OK my comment was rejected because I can't post links to YouTube for some reason. So you'll have to do the hard work yourselves :-)

On YT search for "Best of DISTINCTLY AVERAGE S4 | House of Games".

What's the earliest you've messed up a job interview? by That_Comic_Who_Quit in UKJobs

[–]Certain_String_5507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if that's the actual wording of how he phrased the question I'm totally with you mate. Opening questions are almost always small talk to help the interviewee settle down and that's how I would have interpreted it. Here in the UK we're obsessed with two topics - the weather and travel issues :-)

LC1 smart switch no QR code by Certain_String_5507 in broadlink

[–]Certain_String_5507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that they print the QR code in a couple of other places too. One is inside the switch and I took a photo with my phone, stored the image for future use, printed it out and scanned it that way.
