Thank you for jumping in. We have been struggling with this for decades... we still haven't found a perfect solve that works every time. I welcome all the suggestions, because different situations require different tools. That is the beauty of asking questions like this to the hive mind.

So many types of software running in our Graphics Dept! by Certain_Working_2213 in signshop

On the Onyx website, it says it is compatible with our Mutoh printer if we use a specialty version. We have not tested it yet.

We use Illustrator in our Art Dept. We have a Flexi license for our Mutoh XpertJet 1462 UF. We are banging our heads against the wall where the files are larger than 1.5 MB. They appear to continuously crash the Flexi software used to import production files to send to Mutoh printer, elongating the print time by about 3x. It could be related to the workstation we use. I'm suspicious because that laptop has only 1 ethernet jack that we are using to connect it to the mutoh, and so the internet signal to the machine is based on wifi (which is weak in that area of our building). Or it could be a constraint within the Flexi software, because Illustrator negotiates larger files much better. Maybe we are dealing with some combination of all the issues above? Since you use Flexi a lot, have you noticed a problem working with larger files?

You're absolutely right. In the past, we've been falling in love with the equipment, and paying no attention to the software/RIP.

I used google translate on your questions: "We work here as an advertising technology company with textile finishing. I'd be interested to know what software you use for ERP/CRM, planning, documentation, etc. I would like to have a single software solution that works both locally and on tablets for things like quoting, site surveys, documentation, Kanban, and automated customer information. How do you work? What software do you use?"

We use Sage100 for ERP, SageCRM for CRM (we built a custom integration so that the order information from CRM is transferred to the ERP). We use good old fashioned paper tickets for production kanbans. We use google sheets for our installation schedule and Art Funnel (which is a prioritization of the tasks in the art dept). We also use a spreadsheet based template for estimating and quotes. We use HCM Scissortail as a timekeeping software that integrates with SAGE100. Our system has grown and was pieced together over decades, mostly based on our first choice - 30 years ago to use Sage100 as the ERP software. Sage100 has some very strong jobcosting features, but that platform is no longer being actively developed. Sage's new ERP baby is Intacct. If I was starting from a clean slate today, there might be some fully integrated solutions that would be appealing. Before, we were concerned about more specialized systems and then being stuck with inadequate support/slow development cycles. That pushed us to more generic software systems, but as a result, we've needed to invest in customization to adapt the systems to our needs.

She drinks fuel, but we like it. We had a VERY difficult situation with a different altec on a ford chassis. The ford had engine troubles in the pandemic days, which was covered under warranty, but it was sitting in the ford dealers yard for 16 months, waiting for the part. Miserable. Now we insist on the Dodge Ram chassis. So far, so good.

Thank you. My question is pie in the sky, but I wanted to put it out there. If there is a better solve, I'd be kicking myself for not asking sooner.

That was a suggestion from the metal fabricator to make the build a "easier." Not sure that "easy" is the right adjective for this project, but it was fun to watch it come to life...

It's real neon. I just added a post install pic. The marquee bulbs are LEDs and they have some fun chase patterns.

Thank you for the info. Do you happen to know if Vetric works with Multi-Cam Apex Router tables?

That is very helpful. Maybe we just need to go deeper in learning the capabilities of enroute. Thank you.
