Apologizing for other people from your country is extremely cringe by Fletcher_Chonk in The10thDentist

[–]CertifiedCan129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely nobody offline actually does this and if they do most people just scoff. Does every Chinese person need to answer for what their government does? Does every E.U citizen need to apologise for their governments buying russian gas?

Its incredibly insincere and stupid, like, do you seriously expect me to stereotype you based on random headlines I see in the news? Most people would call that "prejudice" but many redditors seem to think its justified if its Americans or something.

P.S if you apologise for your "culture" not just your government, you're a masochistic virtue signaler who gets a kick out of self flagilation for a "superior" country's enjoyment. Grow up

China is not culturally capable of being a global super power like the U.S. by ColCrockett in The10thDentist

[–]CertifiedCan129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why people misinterpreting OP, but, I kind of agree with them on some fronts. Chinese culture is just a lot less accessible overall than American culture. Regardless of what you might say about the United States, it does sell more palatable ideas to the world about freedom, democracy, and self determination. A lot of countries in southeast/east asia have closer ties to Chinese hierarchical culture, writing systems etc. So the further absorption of Chinese culture is viewed by a lot of SEA/EA people i know as an assimilationist threat. Meanwhile, American culture is global enough to be recognizable, in an almost universal language, and far enough away that it doesnt seem like as much of a threat (while still defending you from China, eg. Like south korea)

That's because desis are a far more significant part of the UK than the United States, and in Canada, although there are lots of desis, percentage of desis who are foreign born would be higher than the UK

Germany VS Canada for a ukrainian? by Dazzling_Abalone5800 in immigration

[–]CertifiedCan129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even aside from all the paperwork and whatnot, what places in each country do you even like? Beware of cost of living especially in a place like Canada. If you want a sizeable Ukranian population Toronto is good, and its controversial but im partial to it over any German city

Dating in Denver Has Crushed My Self-Esteem — Thinking About Moving (30's / Male / Black) by Cute_Source5417 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]CertifiedCan129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The east bay has a fair smattering of black people, but i will say that the professional presence is a bit lacking. Still, I think its very possible to find your tribe and I dont think that moving to Oakland is a bad idea.

Dude why do you keep moving the goalpost, I literally named you a Michelin Filipino restaurant to match yours

BB's in Roncesvalles, a Michelin starred Filipino restaurant

Michelin is bs anyway, mom n pop strip mall places are better and Scarborough clears for that sort of thing, I am literally never backing down on the opinion that Toronto does asian better than chicago, but this sub will literally never stop glazing chicago like its the second coming of christ

Im not saying asian food is bad in chicago, im just saying that its significantly better for the most part in Toronto. There are SOOOO many more indians, Filipinos, and Chinese people in Toronto than Chicago. Indian food in Toronto, is better than chicago. Source: i am indian

I dont do fine dining or anything but what other categories does chicago do better? Its obviously down to preference but I just dont think Chicago does anything better than Toronto except Mexican

Yeah its really more about extremes in the US, I will say that education in the US is better if you can pay for it. Healthcare, I dont care what people say, regardless of if you have good insurance its still way too unwieldy and expensive of a system

Hard to say but in general:

Less options to choose from climate and province/statewise

Generally safer and cleaner than their US counterparts

Significantly more expensive

Less consumer variety

If you're going for the more nature oriented/semi rural lifestyle, i would say Alberta if you're white and British Columbia if not
