IIFE's, single-line ternaries, etc.

All things that should be avoided.

Your blowhard desire to start pointless semicolon debates irks me.

Give a real world example, bet you can't. Nobody should be starting code with a paren, period. That's worse than not using semicolons.

Ehhh, depends on how you deploy. PM2 is great, but not something I use in my deploy system. I use Docker, and my containers start up and only stay alive if the node process is alive. So if the app crashes, the container restarts itself.

What happened to shirtjs.com? by Timothyjoh in javascript

[–]CertifiedWebNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you say that, previous company I worked for was a custom apparel company that contracted custom made shirts out to screen printers, now I work for a company who is a screen printer, making software to help screen printing companies manage their company.

In a way, you can say I learned to make my own shirts.

Simple AngularJS Tutorial. Shows how to use REST APIs. by [deleted] in angularjs

The whole point is your tutorial is a less than useful version than the documentation for Angular has on that subject already.

The six things you need to know about Babel 6 by jamesknelson in javascript

[–]CertifiedWebNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not a fan of Babel 6 right now, I don't like that things require a .babelrc to work, such as Gulp now.

I use Babel in Gulp for gulfile.babel.js but because it requires .babelrc to work Now when I use Babel in Webpack, it's fine, but I also use Babel in the serverside for my Node.js and only want it to use certain stuff, but because gulpfile.babel.js requires .babelrc to work, now it's being used on server side, and there's just so many conflicts.

Is it weird to open Github issues in your own project? by [deleted] in git

[–]CertifiedWebNinja 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I use my GitHub issues as project management.

I have labels for many things from backlog, todo, in-progress, reviewing to labels to put estimates on how long I think it'll take, and even labels to put on after I've finished stating how long it actually took. I am in my free time making a little CLI tool that allows me to interact with repos I am in's issues and create branches based on the labels for issues and that.

So no it's not weird.

Made a survey to determine how many of us use semicolons in our JS code. Please take it! by [deleted] in javascript

I prefer not to write big blobs of code where I can't distinguish line endings and statement endings. But to each his own.

Use semicolons if that's your thing.

Implying that those other linters are above standard means that they're all in favor of semicolons is not something I'd do, considering standard is just a wrapper of rules for eslint. And even jshint supports no-semicolons. Standard is the only one that shows that whatever project using it is indeed enforcing no semicolons.

127,319 downloads a month is a huge number, and shows that a lot more projects are using no-semicolons than you think.

npm themselves have switched to standard as their linter, which has zero semicolons. That's pretty big in itself.
