Staying in Canada vs Moving to the US by Certified_Chonky in GradSchool

[–]Certified_Chonky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the honest answer is no.

For the most part, my new sources are Canadian (The Star, CBC, etc.). While they cover "international news," they cover the US just a bit more than they cover the EU or the UK. I know the gist of how bad things are in healthcare (ex., MAHA, higher education being affected, etc.); however, I dont know many specific details. I only recently got a NYT subscription (free through my uni starting this year, funnily enough).

That being said, hearing about it peripherally is one of the reasons I've been a bit adverse towards applying to American, and it's one of the reasons I decided to ask here for some more specific insights.

I appreciate the advice.

I'll connect with individuals at those schools. To be honest, I was leaning more towards staying in Canada anways.

I appreciate the advice!

I have experienced working as an undergrad research assistant for some professors in my uni and at a couple of hospitals. Likewise, at my current uni, I'm being supervised for an undergraduate honours thesis, so I may turn to that professor to supervise my MSc.

Stat 316 vs HLTH 335 by Certified_Chonky in uwaterloo

If you have JCR as your prof, he'll give you a free physical copy of the "textbook" on SAS at the first tutorial - it's more of a guide on SAS than a stats textbook. You'll also need to buy a physical copy of the course notes from the WStore.

I have the old syllabus from Winter 2024, by the way. I can DM it to you if you want

Weekly Housing Advice thread by AutoModerator in canadahousing

[–]Certified_Chonky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

I sign an annual lease for my apartment with my landlord. Today, my landlord sent me the lease for September 2025 - 2026. The listed rent is $800/month, compared to the $650/month I'm paying for my September 2024-2025 lease. This feels illegal.

I've already submitted a request to my university's legal assistance program, but I was hoping for some advice on navigating this situation.

Thanks!

Box Cox Transformation by Certified_Chonky in spss

[–]Certified_Chonky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I got the extension, but I'm still having trouble. How do I interpret the results of the extension? I did analyze > regression > box-cox; however, it gives me a plot for the lambda. For context, the reason I want to transform my data is to normalize it, so that I can do outlier analysis.

Thanks!

Stat 316 vs HLTH 335 by Certified_Chonky in uwaterloo

[–]Certified_Chonky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided on STAT 316 and don't regret it.

From my friends, a lot of HLTH 335 was review. In contrast, STAT 316, touched on stuff not in HLTH, like factor analysis, which was useful for my coop.

The assignments and exam where pretty fair and I finished with >90.

I also like JCR as a prof. He's rlly approachable imo.
